Quest Games Worth Returning To: July 20–26, 2026

Five Meta Quest games that gave players a concrete reason to jump back in during July 20–26: new multiplayer, a dungeon raid, a kaiju invasion, better destruction and a full tabletop game.

Not every Quest update needs a comeback tour. These five changed something you can actually feel: more people to fight, more things to break, a new place to raid, a new monster to command, or a whole board game to sit down with.

UNDERDOGS adds Open Cage multiplayer

UNDERDOGS finally has a proper reason to bring friends back into the mech pit. Open Cage is its first real multiplayer update: you can fight through short mode variants with a friend, then run longer championship matches for the serious version. The first episode is not the whole multiplayer plan yet, but it is a useful start for anyone who has already punched through the single-player run.

HARD BULLET makes the sandbox hit harder

HARD BULLET got a practical July pass rather than a flashy new mode. Large-calibre weapons now leave more visible damage, explosions have better effects, enemy navigation was improved and the team says it also worked on optimisation. That is the right kind of update for a physics shooter: less about a bullet-point feature and more about the game feeling nastier and cleaner once you are already in a fight.

Kaiju Battle Simulator opens an Alien Invasion

Kaiju Battle Simulator v0.7 adds Alien Invasion, a new Category 5 Kaiju called Overlord and a fresh scenario built around it. There are also new mech-command options plus bug and stability work. It is a good one to revisit if you mostly use the game as a destruction toybox and want a new big target rather than another small balance patch.

All On Board! gets Backgammon as a full game

All On Board! added Backgammon to its included catalogue in version 1.4. This is not a tiny ruleset drop: it brings a new board, dice and checkers, plus a new clubs area in the app. If you have friends who keep saying they would play a virtual tabletop game if it were not such a whole thing to set up, this is the one update here with the easiest evening-plan payoff.

Fabula expands the dungeon run

Fabula added a new dungeon zone, party formation, fresh enemies, gear insurance and a run of raid fixes. The useful bit is the party formation system: it gives group runs more shape instead of just throwing everyone into the same chaotic room. If you tried it at launch, this is the update that makes it worth getting a group together again.

What I would watch next

UNDERDOGS is the one with the biggest long-term question because Open Cage is only the first multiplayer episode. HARD BULLET and Kaiju Battle Simulator are more immediately simple: load in, mess around, and see whether the new systems land for you. All On Board! and Fabula make more sense if you already have people to play with.

We will keep tracking the updates that change the actual session, not just the store-feed noise.
