Great Dungeon Keeper successor

I just have to share my enthusiasm for the incredible Underworld Overseer—and no, I’m not getting paid for this! 😆 Underworld Overseer is a truly unique VR game, serving as the spiritual successor to the legendary PC classic Dungeon Keeper. That means one thing: You’re the bad guy! Your mission? Build a devious dungeon and defend it against so-called "heroic" intruders. Let’s be honest—we all know that being evil is way more fun. To attract monstrous allies, you need to design your dungeon wisely, catering to their preferences. Cultists, for instance, demand a library, while trolls are happiest near furnaces. But don’t forget—your minions have needs! They require food, shelter, and, of course, a generous salary (honestly, their wage expectations are outrageous). If they’re unhappy, they might even abandon your dungeon altogether. While your monstrous companions will help fend off intruders, you can’t control them directly. That’s why a well-thought-out dungeon layout is crucial. Want to make life miserable for those pesky heroes? Set up deadly traps and unleash a range of powerful spells to turn the tide in your favor. The developers have done an outstanding job capturing the charm of Dungeon Keeper and bringing it to the Quest. The game’s comic-style cel-shaded graphics look fantastic, and the missions are packed with dark humor. Each mission takes around 30 minutes, striking the perfect balance between challenge and accessibility. For me, Underworld Overseer is one of the best strategy games on the Quest and absolutely deserves more recognition—which is exactly why I’m writing this! If you love strategy games or have always dreamed of running your own dungeon, this is your chance. It’s an absolute steal for the price and, without a doubt, one of the top strategy games on the Quest. I’ve completed it myself, so trust me when I say: 🔥 A solid 5-star rating! 🔥

10/10 Such a chilled game until…

This game is so chilled and relaxing until you notice that you have been having so much fun building your dungeon that you forget to keep an eye out for those pesky adventurers who want to steal your stuff. One minute chilled, the next minute blind panic as you realise your defences have been breached. 10/10 fun sit down game! More games like this needed in vr - vr is great for ALL types of games, not everything has to be sword waving or shootie shootie… ;-)

Great, but basic and lacks spirit

Well done to the developers, you have done an amazing job and this is a good game and you have stayed true to the basic mechanics of Dungeon keeper. I'm glad I bought it. That said - it could be SO much better and more replayable. It's 2025. If Dungeon keeper had continued to exist, it would be 30 years old and would have evolved into something way better and more complex, with more strategy and replayability - just like the elder scrolls, civilisation and grand theft auto, doom and other games of its time. Underworld overseer lacks features that even the first game has, like progressive creature levelling, creatures learning new skills, creatures having names so they don't all feel like identical chess pieces I couldn't care less about. Here are some changes that would make the game better: -micromanage and upgrage each room - Yes, have the training room. But be able to add specific equipment to it that allows creatures to get better at certain skills -> For example, something to make wizards level up faster such as an obelisk which absorbs their spells. -Levelling-> I'd love to see creatures be able to level to 10 again - that way, i'd be more selective of who I send to battle. If my level 10 troll dies, it's a bigger loss than 4 random trolls dying who I know will simply come back out of a portal sooner or later. -Scavenging-> Some room upgrades can't simply be bought with gold - you need to scavenge things from humans -Bring back Misteresses and torture chambers, and converting enemies. -Squads -> Instead of all creatures rallying to a flag, organise your own squads with unique rallying flags. -Enemies with Personality -> some cocky voice acting when a "champion" arrives to "destroy me" would be great. -diverse creatures within the same class - Think training each mage to specialise in e.g. fire, telekenesis, ice; each troll in clubs, boulder throwing, jugganaught. I have way more. Please take this as constructive criticism, your game is great.

Do you remember Dungeon Keeper?

This is Dungeon Keeper in VR. Your reaction to that statement will largely determine your enjoyment of this game. As such, when I first saw this game listed and realized it is a very deliberate spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper, I was waiting for it to release with baited breath and, I can happily say, I was not disappointed. The same dungeon building, creature managing and hero slaying gameplay translates perfectly to VR and, despite something of a downgrade in the overall charm and character of the original, it stands as a great homage to the classic series. If you, like many, loved the original series growing up or you just want to see what all of us old people are talking about, you should definitely give this game a try. It’s a unique style of gameplay that you don’t often see so perfectly replicated and everyone owes it to themself to give it a try to see what all the fuss was about.
