CuriosityXR brings an AI guide into your room. Ask a question out loud and explore the answer through spoken explanations, images, and interactive 3D models.

Try asking about the human body, planets, animals, machines, geography, history, or anything else you are curious about. When a relevant model is available, it appears in your space for you to grab, rotate, and resize.

Keep the conversation going with follow-up questions. Use hand tracking for a natural mixed reality experience, or explore with your Touch controllers.

CuriosityXR is made for curious people, visual learners, families, students, and teachers. It is a different way to explore ideas, whether you are studying something specific or simply wondering how the world works.

CuriosityXR works on Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest 2, and Quest Pro. Quest 3 and Quest 3S support color passthrough, allowing models to appear in your real room.

English and an internet connection are currently required. CuriosityXR grew from peer-reviewed research published at IEEE VR and IEEE AIxVR.

Hard decision to return

The potential of this app is really great but its not ready to be on the market. The ai isnt responsive enough and made an apple when i asked it to show me the structure of a protein. I am returning the app for now although its a hard decision because i see where this app could go; but will be opened to rebuying in the future once the app improves as there is no guarantee that this will get better . Hope this serves as motivation to work on the app some more

Great way to learn for different brains

What a unique way to learn a new subject. As someone who struggled in school I am always looking for alternative ways to educate myself, and this app really worked for me. I love how it doesn't just give you a generic description the subject but provides context that makes the learning stick. I asked about fashion because I'm going clothes shopping soon, and it told me about the differences between certain looks, like victorian vs modern, and easy ways to remember them too. By asking followup questions I was able to find out what styles of clothes fit my body type best, and the teacher also gave me pictures and 3d models so that I know exactly what to look for when I get to the store. The eye-gaze interaction with the teacher felt very seamless and immersive too, like I was talking to a real person. My dogs were very confused by who I was talking to, though.

I had a great experience

Unusable for me in its current state

I asked for a 3D model of a human heart, it gave me multiple models of hearts, multiple models of pewter mugs or something, and pictures and pages of stuff I didn't ask for. I asked the avatar to change from male to female, but the female kept using the male voice, and vice versa. I tried giving the avatar prompts to influence it's behavior but the instructions were ignored or instantly forgotten. The avatars speak over me and don't allow me to finish a thought before they offer me unwanted suggestions for further study that are sometimes irrelevant or unrelated. In the end, I shut down the app in frustration.
