Meta needs more like this! A+

Bought this as Demeo is my go to game and Quest3 leans itself towards turn based and real time strategy games. I was excited to find out there was a modern style game as in Tactica. I am pleasantly surprised, especially as it's still Early Access. Game play is nice and easy, maps look great. The camera controls are working nicely. Tutorial easy to complete. The mixed reality looks a treat. Enjoying playing this title and impressed so far. Things to make it better would be if you can pick up each playing piece and view the characters closer and find out more info on each piece, enemies included. Shadows on the heroes and villains would be cool too. I am really happy so far and look forward to what else Tactica will bring to the literal table. LOVE IT A++ if you are on the fence defo go and buy. UPDATE DEVS: I noticed that the star scoring system doesnt work/save. Also when the sniper "missed" he actually hits everytime. When rotating the table it would be much better if it rotated from the centre instead of on a corner axis.

A Must-Play for Turn-Based Strategy Fans

If you enjoy games like Demeo, Tactica: First Contact is a no-brainer. Great visuals, loads of levels, and satisfying tactical gameplay. There are some bugs — table movement can be a bit clunky, and character control occasionally feels fiddly — but nothing that ruins the experience. It's really fun overall and worth the time!

Very promising, xcom style game

Edit: added a star for the most recent update. Really want to give this game 4 or 5 stars, as I absolutely love the gameplay style of old Xcom games... but there are too many bugs right now. Lots of freezing and crashing, and one of the boss characters is completely glitched. He won't move or attack, and seems to occupy half of two tiles on the screen. You can't attack him with anything but grenades, air strikes, etc., you can't target him individually.

Immersive Tactical Masterpiece

From the moment I completed the tutorial and I dropped into the battlefield, I felt like a true squad leader in a high-stakes sci-fi conflict and I was playing a cross between Demeo and the xcom series. The attention to detail is great—from the crisp HUD interface to the way squad commands feel natural with motion controls. The movement of the battlefield is quite intuitive and easy to do which really helps. This isn’t a run-and-gun shooter; it rewards planning, positioning, and real-time strategy. Issuing orders, flanking enemies, and coordinating attacks with your AI team feels incredibly satisfying and you do need to take your time to get your strategy right If you're into tactical gameplay then this is a must play.

Tactical retreat?

I hate to do this. I'm really trying to be positive for all VR games that I come across because we need the innovation and need to support developers working hard at making games with depth and uniqueness away from all the live-service style slop out there that's ruining the gaming ecosystem... But I have to say, I was really excited about this game when I saw it as this is absolutely my lane! I have always loved strategy games, including Turn-Based strategy. Now the premise and presentation of this game is awesome! The graphics look really cool and the characters too! Really nice ideas! But the delivery of the game is so frustrating. I can't even get through the first level. Now I will push through a lot but this game keeps frustrating me at every turn. The tutorial got me excited, but it failed to even mention how the AP is distributed. Also, moving a character is very annoying because it's so easy to miss where you want to place them and end up putting them out of cover in the next space. How you can address this is easy in making movement a toggle process instead of having to hold the trigger. Then the range of the characters with their weapons is weak. The sniper dude has appalling range, especially for a sniper! To put him in cover the enemies are often just out of reach. The cards system is cool, but then you can't seem to throw grenades at the enemies directly, you have to throw it next to them for some reason. Overwatch is cool when it works but has abysmal range. Incendiary grenades should linger over turns really, to make enemies scatter or stay taking damage. But it disappears. Then it affects them again like 2 turns later for no reason. Finding enemies is very annoying, you see them moving around in the fog but it's very difficult to get the drop on them. You just have to stumble on them like "oh, hi there" then try to scramble to find cover or something before they try to whoop you. I used the clone distraction with my melee character. Had to put it next to him as wouldn't let me do it anywhere else. Then when they took it out that stunned him...not for 1 turn, but for 3 turns!! That's preposterous! Then when he woke up I moved him behind a dude only for him to miss with his melee weapon 3 times! Again, not once, but the melee specialist missed 3 times with his melee weapon...whilst that enemy was free to hurl grenades at his leisure towards my other units and took them out, because I thought the melee guy must be able to deal with him. That is where I had to quit. I really want to love this game but these aspects are making it so hard to. Please address these issues! The foundation you have is so cool! It's just the mechanics really need work! I'm giving 3 stars for the potential and because I get that it's hard. I don't have Discord, but I swear, if you hire me then I'll be able to point out what will help you make this game incredible! Ha. Your personal constructive criticism advisor. I will try it again. And I hope others manage to push through better than me. But yeah, please update the game, work on those issues and this will be brilliant. Sorry
