Shapelab Lite '26 is the latest annual release in the Shapelab Lite series which brings the essential features of the acclaimed Shapelab PCVR app to standalone VR at a more accessible price, carefully adapted for devices with lower processing power. All versions receiving updates until the end of their release year. As part of this cycle, Shapelab 2026 will continue to be improved with updates throughout 2026 before the next version arrives in 2027.

Designed for immersive 3D sculpting, Shapelab offers an intuitive interface to freely shape ideas in 3D space with enhanced control. From basic forms to complex designs, Shapelab enables you to create detailed props, characters, and digital concepts for applications, games, and virtual worlds. VR sculpting creates a unique level of engagement, offering faster workflows and greater precision.

Built on a polygon mesh foundation, Shapelab Lite also includes dynamic topology, enabling on-the-fly adjustments of detail by tessellating or decimating polygons, adding flexibility where detail is needed. On standalone devices, users may notice performance limitations, with framerate drops around 1.5 million polygons. To maintain performance, reduce polygon counts with low-resolution brushes or decimate the model using the Mesh Density tab.

Very good....but

Great app for designing 3d shapes, but would love to see the ability to import images from web or PC to use as a guide to make models, can now only try and design things from your head, what I had to do is print out an image, pin it to the wall and use that with app in passthrough

Passed, but not enough

The MR function is very good, the PBR process is very good, and the sculpture function is very good. But cannot import textures?Transform low precision models in the game into high-precision models, It would be quite convenient to modify along the texture.I don't understand. If there are UV issues during the editing process, can baking the texture to a fixed point during import solve this problem? Moreover, voxels cannot be continuously added. When I want to create a shape from scratch, I need to repeatedly press the trigger for each cube or sphere. Can you imagine that you need to pull the trigger dozens or even hundreds of times just to create a sketch? This is too foolish. Thirdly, it does not support importing new voxels. When I want to create details in bulk, like dragon scales or bird feathers? I can only copy the same part countless times and then move it repeatedly. This is not good. In short, this is a feature that I urgently need, and I still recommend this software to you. I am not stingy with praising its advantages, but I want it to be better.

Almost perfect

I wasn't happy with the corporate focused direction Shapelab was taking with their desktop app. I'm glad that they made an affordable version that runs directly on the headset for those of us who haven't made millions on our apps/games yet. The resolution and vertex count is limited, but totally acceptable for starting out. With the addition of direct file access on the quest, for adding photo references and exports, they've made this a viable solution for a full blown game/app development workflow on the Quest using Godot as an engine. This is game changing for those who want to enter game dev and have a limited budget. I feel a little bad at how I complained to them about this missing feature, but hey, we have it now! There is a slight problem with photo references, but it should be relatively simple to fix especially if they read this. The problem only arises if you have display thumbnails turned on. I think they might be launching threads for each thumbnail to be generated, because if you have a large amount of photos the app freezes and restarts/crashes. Just turn off previews if that's your case, but it should be an extremely easy fix to limit/chunk thumbnail generation. Besides that, my only gripe is personal and that I want moveable and pinnable menus a la Gravity Sketch(also excellent for on headset development for subdivision modeling). Bonus if you can pin them to your fov and not just the world. To your fov isn't hard if you're already using compositing layers for your 2d menus(you are using compositing layers right?) I think they've found a good compromise between corporate desktop usage for higher fidelity and complex models and an affordable on headset app for those interested in getting started in the industry. I suggest people serious about on headset development to also install Termux for git access. I believe we're at the start of a vr dev revolution here and shapelab is helping us get there.

Incredible achievement

This is what we've been waiting for! The latest update is a game changer and makes it so so easy to load in existing files and images to work on. I just went to thingyverse and downloaded some STLs which I can now open from the downloads folder to view and play around with. The program is fantastic and packed full of excellent features and doesn't need a separate computer to run. I can now sculpt detailed and high quality minis for fantasy board games in a way that feels very natural. It is so easy to use. I did a sculpture degree and worked in clay and wax 32 years ago. Finally I am re-discovering these skills in VR thanks to Shapelab. The masking, separating and fill tools are genius. I tried other programs but there's no comparison. At this price its a no brainier. . MUST HAVE!!

We need MX Ink support!

Fantastic 3D sculpting app with so many features. I have the desktop version too, but this one is more than adequate as a standalone. The only letdown is that it doesn't work with my MX ink pen. I can't think of an app which needs pen support more
