A genuinely creepy little cursed object
This is one of the creepiest VR horror experiences I’ve played. What makes it work is that it isn’t just about jumpscares; it’s about contamination, presence, and the horrible feeling that by watching the footage you are making yourself part of the curse. The 360° interview format is incredibly effective, because you’re always scanning the frame and dreading what might be somewhere behind you, beside you, or just out of sight. The best bits are brilliant: whispers in the menus, the hidden ghost woman in the footage, and the passthrough/mixed reality moments that make it feel like the game is leaking into your real room. The final scare was superb and absolutely got me. It’s not perfect. The “find her in the footage” mechanic is a great idea, but the visual effect used for her appearances didn’t always fully work for me, and the static/crackle cue sometimes gives too much away. I think it could actually have been even scarier with less signalling and more ambiguity. But overall, this is excellent. The acting is strong, the concept is smart, and the atmosphere is horrible in exactly the right way. If this sort of cursed-media, mockumentary, slow-burn VR horror is your thing, it scratches an itch that very few games do.
