Not bad, room for improvements.

I don't want to sound negitive, the game is good but there's definitely room for improvements. I think an option to turn on or off the waves would of been a better option than to just leave waves out all together. It would have definitely added to the realism because the water is just so flat. It would also be nice to use the winches without having to move positions/teleport all the time. Have them more towards the stern of the boat just behind the wheel so everything is within arms reach. After all you're sailing solo and it can be awkward to tighten them in this game on the larger boat. Also the smaller boat needs a teleport position just infront of the tiller which would make sailing it feel more realistic instead of having to use the thumbsticks. Lastly I think almost AUD$20 a month is a little too steep for the sailing pass as well when all you get is one other boat and 'pro' sailing. Too many gaming companies these days make you buy the game then pay extra a month or have micro transactions. It's a shame the days have gone where you used to buy a game and get everything the game has to offer.

$13 a month!?

Updated 1/272023 Well…you tried MarineVerse …and, yup still failed. $9.99 for the Catamaran, ahh….but you still want more money…so it’s only available in single player mode. Might be a good game…but, compared to the cost of other games, you appear to be greedy. #DoBetter …..wow..thought I would be able to progress thru the game to get the foil sailboat….but….NOPE. $13 a phuckin month! Boooooo! Do better Marineverse. Although I will continue to play…….Can’t get my money back at this point….but wish I could.

Fun but not worth the full price

I have been playing most days for about 2 weeks now so i think I have a good idea of the game. first the good, it is fun, easy to get into, has some teaching ability and it is cool to race others. Unfortunately, it also has many issues. Clunky interface, bad graphics and animation even for quest 2 (Check out the seagull if you want a laugh), flat calm water all the time, boring location backdrops, races that get old quickly as they are all much the same, wind always from the same general direction, a system that rewards those players who wait until late into the session to play because you can actually watch exactly how the previous players have raced before you have finished their turns allowing them to basically cheat by copying and maybe improving on their times. As for the live multiplayer, the one time I saw enough people for a race and joined the race was full of bugs, some had a completely different race presented to them so it basically did not work. Next issue is the price of pro access, 14 EUR a month for access to 1 other boat and a few "PRO" races, I simply do not see the value anywhere, I am not looking to learn about sailboat racing, I already know it, I have been sailing for many years in my own 13m sailboat and raced lasers when I was young. SO in conclusion, I paid 20EUR for a mediocre game that really needs some polish. 5 EUR is about its worth IMO. I really hope the developers continue to improve this game, it has great potential, it's just been released at the wrong price and before it is really ready.

Amazingly good simulation!

I'm a 61 year old, disabled sailor who rather misses the days of lake sailing he did in the past. I find this game incredibly immersive, and sailing feels natural right down to using telltales to trim my sails. I honestly don't quite understand it, but the ambient sounds they included have me honestly picturing or rather, FEELING like I am sailing. I almost can feel the light air and mists, it's really something else! Also, due to my disability, I find sitting and standing for any length of time difficult, and this simulation allows me to very comfortably play it while laying prone in bed. I have tested and returned a dozen games this month due to their failing in this category. Honestly, I hope at some point in the future Meta adds another category or two to the ones they have right now which seem to be limited to "Sitting, Standing, Roomscale" Related to this is things related to other disabilities. Some games force you to turn physically, which might be difficult or impossible for many of us. This game provides alternate ways of turning and moving that are very easy to use. I haven't looked at whether it can be played one handed or not yet. I know that some in our Facebook group "Disabled Quest 2/3 User Community" either only have one hand or due to an injury can only use one hand, so that ability would be helpful if it's not there already. To that end, other categories that would be nice to see Meta add in addition to "Sitting, Standing, Roomscale" might be "Wheelchair, One Handed, Xbox Controller". Again, these wishes include ALL Meta games and apps, and this one might not include these needs so far, but it's head and shoulders above 80-90% of Quest apps I have tested thus far. The other thing I wholeheartedly endorse is the fact MarineVerse is working on a beta that includes circumnavigation of the globe. I can't wait to see what they do with that!

Best VR sailing app

I have really enjoyed playing this. As a very occasional sailor it is great to gain some confidence. If you want to do racing then this game is perfect. I am not a racer, so here is my wishlist for the future. -The ability to hoist/furl the sails with stopper controls - more to explore in free sail. Points of interest etc - chart plotting - anchoring - customisation of boat and sails - weather changes As you can probably tell, I am more of a cruiser and therefore want some options to do this. Despite this list I still really enjoyed it and think its a 4/5.
