The Drum Smith is a first person VR drum simulator. Have you ever wanted to feel what it is like to be a drummer? Now you have a chance to be one! You can play the drums without music or with it – just choose the melody and beat the drum when it is indicated. Try different difficulty modes to get your skills on a whole new level!

You can play this VR game using VicoVR Full Body Motion Controller if you want full body motion version of the game. Or you can play it like any other cardboard game in any virtual reality headset you like.

We recommend playing this game with VicoVR Controller to move your whole body in virtual worlds. More info here: http://vicovr.com

So much potential! But sorely lacking!

Ok, so when I first saw this drum simulator in the app store, I knew I had to get it, as Ive always wanted to get better on the drums. Im a music major, and keyboard is my strength, drums, not so much. For the price, I figured I'd give it a shot, and if it didn't work well, at least I was only out a couple bucks. After playing on the easy level, first impressions: this is really fun and awesome! The song was cool (although it would be nice if there were more of them), and I really liked the guitar hero style of play, when you hit the drums in rhythm to the colored circles advancing towards you. I did notice, however, that I could not really hear MY drum sounds when I struck a drum or cymbal in the game- it appears the drum sounds were set by the developers to go off at different intervals, and your input did not alter the sound one bit. That was a bit disappointing. Also, sometimes I would strike a drum when I was supposed to, but the game would not count it as a proper drum hit. This wasn't as bad on beginner level, where you have more time to position your drumsticks properly. I was able to score around 90% on easy, but medium was a different story. On medium difficulty (where I only scored about 35%,) it was nearly impossible to keep up with the rhythm- and the drumstick many times just went right through the drums, without a sound or adding to my score. But Ill say this much- it left me wanting more, which is a good thing. Any app where you can create or play music in vr is like gold to me. If they could enlarge the area on the drums that can register a hit, and enable people to hear exactly what they are playing during the rhythm game, oh, and add a bunch more songs, they could quite possibly have a hit on their hands. I would also like to see some kind of light or spark or anything at the end of the drumstick when contact is made with the drums, so you can better see where contact is taking place- this will greatly add to playability- in addition to this, considerable amount of work needs to be done on the physics of the game so the drumstick doesnt just pass through the drum when it strikes it- the end of the drumstick should bounce up off the surface of the drum once contact is made. This would greatly improve realism. If they were to make those changes, I dont see why this game couldn't be just as popular as Beatsaber (especially if it gets ported over to quest and quest2- with 2 controllers a good drumset like this would be epic! Great start guys! Now you just have to add more realism and more songs and you'll have a guaranteed hit on your hands!

Great Idea! Needs Some Work.

Looks great! I was actually teaching myself game development, because I wanted to do something like this. Low and behold, someone already has. Several things could improve this app. 1. Because there is only 3DOF, the developer may want to redesign the drum set (as pretty as it is), scaled differently. Have the different pieces further apart, so you can have the hit areas (the way the game knows you hit a drum), further apart (and maybe bigger). 2. Maybe a button to lock you to a piece. This way, any decent movement of the controller, would count as a hit on the drum. There were many times when playing, that i was drumming away, but one hit was counted as a miss, even though the drum stick moved. if I could hold a button that locked me in, that would be great. 3. I wasn't expecting it to be a game. I just thought it would be a drum kit to play around with. The game is awesome, but I'd like the drum set affects to be their normal volume. I understand you're trying to give the player the feel they are playing the drums with the band, but this doesn't give the same sense of enjoyment as actually hearing the pieces I'm hitting during the song. 4. Maybe the base drum beat needs to come from the ceiling so its easier to see when its time to hit the bass drum during the song? 5. This could be amazing with two controllers (maybe a quest version in the future). Especially if there would be a way to hook up a third bluetooth controller/pedal for the base drum. Lots of fun. I hope you haven't abandoned this app, and you make some improvements. I still had a lot of fun with it.

I can't get this to play the song without dragging and sticking the glitches are awful, and I tried to like it but sense I can't get a refund because I skipped and waited to long I'm airing it out.
