After 3 years...

Unfortunately, I have to change my rating of the game to one star because the game I played on pc and Nintendo Switch is unplayable in vr thanks to the developers. Bugs and problems were announced that would not have required too much work, but somehow these problems were not fixed. Since august 2022 we have actually been trying to play a buggy game... There is no menu to adjust the resolution or turn off the music, you can't capture ships because there is no control while transiting, Tutorial missions are frozen into the map. 18 euros on an unplayable game...At least they would say "it's not worth it for us to bother with the VR version" ... then I would understand.

Promising voyage

Under the Jolly Roger is a game I have spent countless hours in on console and now I can enjoy it on vr. The game wastes no time throwing you into this huge world filled with various different factions throughout some pretty big maps filled with quests that can range from collecting items to destroying enemy ships and even fighting sea creatures. There's loads of content here for someone wanting to escape for a few hours and enjoy the pirate lifestyle. Ship battles are what you expect: line up your shots to sink or stop your enemy vessel and choose to sink or board their ships, which you can claim for yourself. There's is tons of different cannon balls and other handy weaponry to use. You can even summon the kraken to aid you. As for boarding it feels more like I'm observing the action but never really be apart of it, which is a shame if I'm honest. There is plenty of quests for you to take on to help you gain more friendships with any of the given factions across the ocean. And should you choose to, buy and display their flag to align with them. Playing the game can take some getting use to and I heavily recommend doing the tutorials to better understand the mechanics to the game such as crew manegmet and buying and trading. There are a few wee hiccups that I should mention. The ui could use some work, and it isn't really explained all that well. Secondly for those of you wanting to get behind the wheel and experience this game in a more immersed manner, as far as I know, it can't be done (it was optional on console) you are always viewing from above the ship which leads me to the controls. The right stick turns the ship and left to zoom in and out, there isn't an option to rotate the camera so at times you might feel and little nauseous, and I definitely think more custom settings could definitely be an improvement. The graphics are relatively good so I can't really complain about them, it's not exactly a huge budget title so all in all it can be pretty at times. I would recommend this game to those of you who want maybe something more casual and relaxing style of play with loads of quests and Content to keep you busy. And maybe if the devs continue to improve the games controls and ui, could be a great title to add to your collection. And a cheap one at that.

Fantastic game is full of bugs

Great game and I love the quests, however, it is very buggy. Had to delete my app data and get far into the game and guess what….met a bug with no way out….ggrrrrrr….didn’t want to delete it but with not tutorial on the button layout to get where I needed to do or go, I didn’t have a choice. Graphics are okay with me on my meta quest 2. But the bugs are killing me. Wish the developers had put a little more time into the game, a lot more people would consider trying it. Going to try it more time….if it works okay…if not I’m done. Tried it more time…got great ships and loot. However, went overboard with my loot and ammo and it can’t sell it or unload it. So now I’m stuck in a port and can’t move from the port. Going to delete the game…not worth the frustration. My suggestion is don’t guy it..you’re not going to get any help from the developers.

Huge potential!

Don’t release a buggy half baked game. This should be great but has game breaking bugs. I add one star for potential. If this port was done right, it would dominate in the Quest store. Unfortunately, they want people’s money, even if the game isn’t playable. This will only lead to a tarnished name and angry players. Quickly fix this!

Can't sell from my bark

The bark, and the frigate 1 and 2 broken. I can't sell from them... The tutorial is broken. Can't destroy 2 training ships. When you get sunk and go back the last port, sometimes you sink over and over. The Grim reaper legendary ships sails wont open but the cargo hold does. I still have hopes that a warship has accessible cargo. Fix this broken game...
