The mission of Orbis is to transport you to the most iconic, wild, and beautiful locations of the world, but with a focus on locations that are off the beaten track.
Initially we will be focusing on the beautiful Zion Narrows in Utah in North America, imaging some of the more remote parts of the Narrows that few people ever get to see. We will then be delving deep into the archaeological wonders of Peru in South America. Our desire is to take you deep into parts of Peru that are often ignored by tour guides and create an experience where you see something unique, something different, something much closer to what Peru is all about.
We will then be extending our tours all around the world. Our aim is always the same: to find the most beautiful caves, canyons, waterfalls and beaches and create absolutely transformational experiences where you feel totally transported from the comfort of you sitting room or wherever you might happen to be. Whether it is right up close to a beautiful waterfall in Iceland, or inside the entrance of a beautiful cave in Borneo, our aim is the same: to make you feel transported and wake up the explorer within you.
We will be using the latest 3-D computer graphics and video technologies to bring everything to life. We include real holograms of people to give our experiences a uniquely human touch.
Everything we create is based on actual videos and photographs and we use no CGI at all.

A work in progress with real promise
Having reviewed many travel VR experiences, I can say that hands-down Orbis provides best visuals and sense of immersion of any of them. The masterful melding of photogrammetry, video and audio brings these animated scenes to life with a high degree of realism. However, although Orbis has a growing selection of content in the Americas, it needs many more locations to justify the asking price. I can see an opportunity for Orbis to be an excellent VR travel experience available if the publisher is able to substantially broaden the library of content, and if they are also able to improve the simplistic and sometimes confusing user interface which diminishes and distracts from the experience. Also, to ensure that the guide narration can be muted at every location. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on this one.

Immerse Yourself in Choquequirao
I had the opportunity to experience Orbis, and it was something completely out of this world. From the moment I put on the headset and witnessed the Choquequirao experience, I felt like I had crossed into another place a world so real that I almost forgot I was in a virtual environment. Everything responded to my movements with incredible precision: the resolution is so lifelike that you want to touch the Inca walls, and walking gives you the urge to explore. Moreover, effects like surround sound and soft breezes made me feel completely immersed. It was much more than a game or a simulation; it was a unique sensory and emotional experience. Orbis is definitely creating something truly amazing.

Only one sight viewable
I just downloaded the app. It showed three areas. I went to the sight in Utah. I downloaded both the lower and upper and viewed the content. Then I wanted to see the other two points, but they are no longer available. I tried exiting the app and going back in, but no success. What I saw was good.

Nice idea, but still in development
It takes very long to load the photos, even the ones that already were downloaded cannot be opened again. Keeps loading. Fonts are very nice but only works for titles, for descriptions and smaller text it doesn’t seem to be the right font, too thin and hard to read. So far only available Peru and it loads quite slow I’ve been over 45 minutes trying to explore it and only managed to open 4 images so far.

Needs development
There are two locations. The South American location definitely needs work. It was not Machu Picchu, as I was expecting, but a similar location and quite disappointing. The 3d perspective was not well done. The North American location showing a series of waterfalls on a river in the woods were much better. The voice over was interesting and the 3d perspective work was much, much better. There was a pixel missing in the waterfall, leaving a white mark, and there was a loop of someone taking a photo that was missed, but overall it was good and quite relaxing to watch. Was it worth the price? No. Not at all. Would I recommend it. Again, no, not at all. However, it had promise and with more content and some work on the 3d aspects (so foreground, mid ground, and background aren’t so obviously separated with some layers moving with the wind and others not moving at all as in the South American location) it could potentially be really good.
