Nano is a thrilling cellular adventure with real science in its DNA.

A strange virus is sweeping across the globe. As a trainee in a top-secret bioresearch program, you use your headset and haptic gloves to remotely control a nanodrone -- a tiny machine that gets injected into the human body.

With the drone, you operate a synthetic immune cell, jacking into infected patients around the world to fight their infections on the microscopic level, and ultimately track down and face the mystery virus itself.

You'll need to master the cell's living systems: you generate energy from food molecules, use the cell's DNA to manufacture a variety of proteins to keep the cell alive, and to combat invaders. This is not a science textbook -- it's a game to its core, but one that's based on real science. You've never experienced biology, or gaming, like this.

Enticing learning

By training I am in physics and optics but I often work on project collaborating with biologist. I yearned to learn more about our body but had no easy way in. The terminology I picked up in my job helps me to recognize them in the game. Now I get to know how that works! And I realized the game website has more learning tool to get familiarize which is what. I would be great and essential for player to dig deeper so the impact would go beyond just "graphical icon recognition" into solid biology learning tool. I thank you for such a wonderful game to push public science forward. Better educated citizens make a better world.

Excellent game! Well worth the price!

Great narrative hook to start off with, then a good progression to build your skills. Excellent graphics, to a point where you feel like you're really fighting viruses. After a while, as you get more weapons and experience, you can figure out optimal strategies against what you're going up against. And you're going to need them! Trying to keep up with all that's going on will have you doing cell maintenance, amino collection, keeping your energy up, and trying not to die from pathogen attacks. I finally finished the 'Extreme' level - took me 8 tries to come up with a way to handle the final onslaught. So what's next? Will there be a Nano 2? I'll be looking forward to the next installment!

Must have for that price

Way above my expectations (and I am doing a PhD in bioinformatics :) ). I expected more of an "interactive tour" into biology with primitive interaction, but it is an exciting combination of biology and game (emphasis on the second one). It has a good story and game loop. The gameplay becomes a bit repetitive, but its price and level of realization it is not a problem at all. There is a lot of growth potential, but I am sure devs perfectly know it. I will be waiting for the future DLC/sequel!

Amazing blend of education and fun!

As someone who majored in biology and took molecular cell biology this app is amazing! First and foremost it’s a fun game. While you are having fun you learn about the interior of the cell and how different organelles work while defending against a COVID like pandemic. It really is cool, especially if you’re into biology at all.

Fun, engaging, and educational

If somebody had told me “you will remotely pilot a macrophage to destroy parasites, viruses, and other nasties, learn about various cell organelles and their functions, and sequence nucleotides to create protein blueprints for fighting off more of the nasties”, I would have thought this game holds more educational value than fun. But no: this game is a blast and has a little bit of everything. It’s creepy with the occasional bits of humor, the voiceover guidance is clear and concise, and the convincing narrative results in sympathy for the afflicted. The educational component is bundled seamlessly with the fun factor and can be reinforced by replaying at the higher difficulty levels (there are 4: trainee, normal, hard, and intense). Lighthaus knocked it out of the park with this one and I’ll be watching closely for others like it.
