VR allows BlackForge to go deeper than any other weaponsmithing game before it. Shape and smooth wood on the workbench, or heat metal in the forge and then summon thunder into your hammer to beat it into shape. Be as creative as you like by putting personal touches on each weapon. Accessible tutorials make the game easy to pick up and get started with.
BlackForge has a full campaign in which you’ll take on requests from townspeople across the world. You’ll complete increasingly intricate tasks from the surrounding towns. My original review wasn't brutal enough to detail exactly how broken this empty promise of a game really is and instead of rewriting it and explaining my problems with the devs that I had to deal with, I'm just going to leave this here like this: if you ever wanted to know what it's like to burn money in a fire, buy this game. They sucker you with a Califer-ian pet but petting it is all you can really do with it and it only moves in one way. The tools don't work, not a skill issue. You can't make perfect edges. YOU CAN NOT. Not a skill issue. You can not make the stuff you want and you don't get paid. You have to sell your own stuff to the merchant but your jobs don't pay. Game can't register what is a sword or a spear. Why not make it an option to select what type of weapon you're making so the game doesn't mistakenly register the wrong thing. Graffiti Kingdom figured this out on PS2, how are you failing miserably?

I love this, it’s fun learning how the game works and getting better at smithing! The only issue I have is after a few missions the merchant just stops giving requests and I’m left standing there to do whatever. I’ve reset and reinstalled to no avail. Please fix it! this game has so much potential and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. There’s another bug where my left controller starts to vibrate and then just doesn’t stop. I can’t replicate it so I don’t know what much to say on thst.

…until I got really tired of the chunk based hammering and grinding while just trying to make a sword for myself only to shave off too much and have to start over. I never liked how I needed to whittle down this giant slab of metal just to make a long blade, in the future if you could add the option to make slimmer pieces of metal to work with or just add weapon molds that would be great.

Great fun, i enjoy the smithing..shaping stuff is a bit awkward but just takes getting used to. There have been a lot of bugs though concerning orders and i dont like how things reset when you exit plus i just had my whole save start over for no reason. Wish there was a manual save or some way to select a save file as a backup but other than that the game is fun.

I love the fantasy setting and being the blacksmith of my own mystical forge. The way metal can actually be crafted into any shape you want, unlike other games with smithing where each blade turns out the same, really sets this apart in terms of creativity. The different materials add to the complexity, and the stream of requests continuously provide new crafting challenges with no single correct answer. I expect this will be one of the few games that never leaves my headset to make room for a new game. Many thanks to the developers for getting the first patch out so quick!
