获取免费试玩版The Obsessive Shadow is a short survival horror game set in 1986 American Suburbs. You play as 9 year old Liam Robertson. While watching tv, the power mysteriously goes out. You quickly find out that your mother is missing when a strange phone suddenly call becomes your only hope at surviving the night. While only armed with a flashlight and a familiar voice on the phone, you must rely on your eyes, ears, and pure instinct to keep whatever is hunting you away. Every hour that creeps by, the rules for survival change. You must adapt and overcome whatever the night throws your way. IT. IS. HERE. With 3 different endings and multiple achievements to unlock, you must push through and face the darkness. Will the increasingly odd instructions keep you alive? Or will this monster catch you when you least expect it?

[EDIT] This originally was a four star rating, but I have changed it to five star due to the developers updating efforts which have enhanced the resolution quality of the game. [END EDIT] This is the first time where I'm about to give a great review, but with a caveat to make sure people are aware of the differences between the Quest version and the one you would get from the Steam library. I originally had this on my wishlist in Steam for quite a while. I was excited to see that it was released today. When I checked out the new launch trailer, I noticed the Meta logo at the bottom along with the other available places you can play it; Steam, and PSVR. I figured, great, it would be stored directly on my Quest 3 headset if I just get it through the Meta store (same price).  As soon as I started playing it, I could see how compressed it was. Something didn't feel right right in the very beginning with the "emergency broadcast system" words on the TV screen. Quite a bit of aliasing as well as when things got dark you could tell there's a lot of banding when your light is hitting solid colored objects.  This is not a complaint to the developer because the demo itself on Steam is 14 gigs big so clearly quite a bit of sacrificing had to be done in order for it to be a practically downloadable game onto the Quest hard drive and that's completely understandable (and expected). When I compared the above attributes I experienced from the Quest version against the Steam demo the quality was like night and day in a much improved way with the Steam version. So I definitely recommend this game overall (even on the Quest) because it will give you a very scary VR experience in general. (Especially to though who want the haunted house experience, but don't want to go through all the complicated "work" like Phasmophobia.) but I felt that it's important for everyone to be aware that even in a single house environment, such as this game, there is going to be graphical quality differences between Quest and Steam.  That being said, personally, I am going to refund the Quest version and plan to get the Steam version instead because I am fortunate enough to be able to have the options of a smooth VR experience on either platform and the Steam version is very much more polished. [EDIT] After getting in touch with the developer to acknowledge his efforts to update, I was given a game-key in order to get the game again for the Meta Quest 3 since I got it on Steam after this original review. Super nice of him to do that. Overall, this game works really well for the standalone headset, in fact, even at its 7XX megabyte size, I feel he could un-compress it even more and get it even closer to the Steam VR resolution at a couple gigs or more big and it would still very conveniently downloadable at that bigger size. I played the Demo version of this a few years back and it scared me then, now it's somehow even more scary but in the best way. If you enjoy VR Horror games, you'll probably love this one. It's simple yet challenging, and it does it's job at scaring the living daylight out of you. The music, the voice acting, the graphics, the gameplay, everything in this game blends to create a perfectly terrifying experience. If you REALLY want to be scared, look no further, you won't be disappointed!

The Obsessive Shadow is more than just a horror game—it’s a nerve-wracking journey through the eyes of a terrified 9-year-old named Liam, trapped in his darkened home with something sinister lurking just beyond reach. From the very first moments, the atmosphere grabs you. The flicker of your flashlight, the eerie silence broken by creaks and distant whispers, and the increasingly frantic voice of your mother over the phone all work together to create a creeping sense of dread. It’s not jump scares that make this game terrifying—it’s the tension, the stillness, and the fear of what might be waiting in the dark. The storytelling is masterful. What starts as a simple blackout quickly unravels into something deeply unsettling. Is your mother really helping you? Can you trust the instructions she gives? Or are you being led deeper into danger? The use of space and sound design is incredible, turning a familiar home into a nightmarish labyrinth. Every hallway becomes a gauntlet, and every shadow might be hiding something that sees you before you see it. This is psychological horror done right. The Obsessive Shadow doesn’t just want to scare you—it wants to get inside your head. And it succeeds. If you love slow-burning, atmospheric horror with rich narrative tension, The Obsessive Shadow is a must-play. Just don’t turn off your flashlight.

This game is great with everything that it has to offer. The realism, the story, and basically everything because this game is far from amazing, it’s perfect. 10/10 would recommend to horror lovers like me 👍

I went in expecting a decent indie horror game and came away seriously impressed. Obsessive Shadow feels polished, tense, and memorable. It knows how to make simple moments feel terrifying. If you own a Quest and enjoy horror, this is an easy recommendation.
