Virtual Fighter Maneuvers is a combat flight simulator from the creator of VTOL VR. Focused on short-range air-to-air engagements, you can launch directly into the merge with bots or other players online.

Pilot advanced fighter jets in high intensity dogfights with realistic flight and weapon physics. Aircraft and missiles are simulated with realistic effects of air density, altitude, transonic drag, angle of attack, etc!

Choose from 3 unique aircraft:

  • T-15 Excalibur: With two high powered engines and cropped delta wings, this air superiority fighter boasts the highest thrust and top speed.
  • T-16 Falchion: This single-engine, lightweight fighter is the king of sustained turn rate, giving it an edge in two-circle fights.
  • T-18 Cutlass: Able to achieve an aggressive angle of attack, this naval multi-role jet dominates in lower speed one-circle fights.

Learning the strengths and weaknesses of each aircraft is crucial to mastering the art of air combat.

Updates

Update v1.2.0

January 28, 2026

Today I'm rolling out update v1.2 for Virtual Fighter Maneuvers. This update is mainly in preparation for the first "official" ranked season which will begin in a few days. Part of what was involved with this update is switching over to a different database host for the leaderboard, so I apologize…

Feel different but still VTOL VR style

From a player’s point of view, Virtual Fighter Maneuvers feels like the moment VR air combat finally leans fully into what VR does best: close-range, high-intensity dogfighting. The first thing that hits you is how personal every fight feels. This isn’t about long BVR setups or waiting for radar cues — most engagements quickly turn into visual merges, hard turns, and constant decision-making. In VR, that means you’re physically looking over your shoulder, tracking bandits with your own head movement, judging closure rate and angles by feel rather than HUD numbers. It’s incredibly immersive. What really stands out is the flight model and energy management. You can’t just yank the stick endlessly without consequences. Pull too hard and you bleed speed fast; manage your energy well and you’re rewarded with positional advantage. Vertical maneuvers, scissors, and rate vs radius choices all matter, which makes every win feel earned rather than scripted. Each aircraft has a clear personality. You immediately feel the difference between jets. This variety keeps the gameplay fresh and pushes you to adapt your tactics instead of flying everything the same way. Multiplayer dogfights are where the game truly shines. Fights are fast, intense, and unforgiving. A single mistake — an over-commit, a bad pull, losing sight for half a second — can cost you the fight. At the same time, when you successfully out-rate an opponent, force an overshoot, or line up a clean shot after a scissors, the satisfaction is huge. Few VR games deliver that kind of adrenaline consistently. Another strong point is how approachable yet deep the game feels. New players can jump in and have fun almost immediately, but experienced pilots will quickly notice there’s a high skill ceiling. Mastery comes from understanding angles, timing, and energy — not just reflexes. Overall, Virtual Fighter Maneuvers feels like a love letter to classic dogfighting, rebuilt specifically for VR. It strips away distractions and focuses on what makes aerial combat thrilling: situational awareness, maneuvering skill, and decisive moments at knife-fight range. For anyone who enjoys VTOL VR or is passionate about close-range air combat, this game feels less like a side mode and more like a purpose-built experience that truly belongs in VR.

Could be so much better…

First of all, the flight model is good but the game missed so much potential. There is no possibility to land or even start the plane. Every session are short (max 4vs4) with no possibility to change the difficulty (the bot are extremely hard). However, imagine an infinite offline mode where each time, you are called to patrol/control some random civil planes until you get surprised with a dogfight merge. At least it would include departure and landing. I just hope for some updates that propose this kind of content.

Great game but landing needed

I think the game is great. Don’t get me wrong, but I think there needs to be an free flight or also in normal combats when I’m trying to do something with a formation we should be able to go get fuel on the ground like landing strips. I think they should add maybe two landing strips for each team that are big enough and so we can get fuel land and that’s all I think that would be great that’s my only problem.

Honest opinion so far

Iv been waiting for a game like this on quest for about 3 years and it’s finally here. First I’m going to give my pros and cons, the cons not necessarily bad things just things that need to be refined. Pros- Probably the most realistic flight sim on stand alone Easy to learn hard to master Interactive lobbies Has a really awsome hologram that you can see after the round that shows you what you and everyone else did at the end of the game 10/10 sound effects ranging from you rwr, the missile screaming, you can here the bullets fly past your canopy and everything looks and feels so crisp You can coustomize the game to make it guns only, missiles only, infinite ammo ect There’s a bot only mode to practice your aim and maneuverability You can pull cobras and other special maneuvers Each plane has it’s own pros and cons Now I will move onto the cons, I’m well aware this game was released extremely recently so a lot of these may change Iv noticed that the planes really do not like to turn fight, I don’t know if it’s me but whenever I get into a turn fight I am always fighting to prevent a stall, irl jets can turn quite a bit without loosing a detrimental amount of speed Lack of aircraft (this will most likely change) currently we only have 3 Aircraft including the F18, F15, and F16, it would be cool if moving forward that certain aircraft were usable from specific sides, for example, russian jets would fight American jets and there wouldn’t be any mixing of the two countries radar warning and Flaring constancy, again could be a me issue, seem to be a little inconsistent, it’s definitely not a game breaker but something that I feel could be looked into just incase Some crashing issues that really need fixed, which includes throwin everyone back to the lobby, or sometimes the game will abruptly end even if not everyone has died Closing - Current rating 8/10 Do I recommend? Without a doubt, everyone seems to be very friendly and helpful and if you want a good flying game this is your best option, yes there’s some issues but those can be easily fixed Can’t wait to see what this game becomes

DEVS PLEASE READ THIS

So I have a couple things to say about this game so I’m going to put it in a couple sections 1. Damage / Death: Everyone has felt the horrible feeling when you get hit in the wing once by a gun and now your engine is on fire. This is a long awaited feature that is constantly asked for by the community (at least as far as I’ve read in the reviews) PLEASE add accrual hotboxes and damage. Besides damage mechanics let’s talk about death. We all know when we’re about to run into a mountain and there is no hope for survival. If you play vtol vr you’d probably be reaching down for the ejection handles. To my surprise every time I play this game I always wish I could just give some realism to the fight I’m in by ejecting. Also on the contrary we the community would love to be able to have at least minimal control of the aircraft after engine failure to try and take someone down with you. These asks would be loved among the community and add wonderful realism to this game. 2. Armament / Rearming: PLEASE almost every single review asks for some way to land / take off before and during fights. This does not have to be a feature that is always in every fight but rather another selection similar to zones currently are. As for armament the community as well as me have been asking and begging for more missiles and weapon options. This section would definitely supply the community with a lot more options to fights and add realism and more fun to playing the game. 3. Aircraft: This is a rather short but well asked for section. I believe that all players are tired of the few options of 3 aircraft to choose from. This section is more for the community than me as that I still enjoy the options supplied by the three aircraft to currently choose from. Also after playing this game for a while a lobby I played with decided to start a game of hide and seek. While I don’t want to explain all the rules here it would be interesting to see how I could be formed into a very fun and interesting game mode. 4. Gamemodes: While a more unspoken but definitely would still be a much enjoyed feature. As most people who have played vtol vr probably know solo mission are incredibly fun. While this suggestion is rather unvoiced currently I would supply a good reason for more players to buy and play this game. 5. ETC / Other: Most players that I have played with and voiced my suggestions on this topic have agreed with me on having these features in the game. Some of these suggestion would include adding HMCS from other games like DCS or War Thunder. Maybe consider adding something like the night vision in vtol vr into this game. It could be nice when playing in night time and could be able to be toggled in the main lobby by the creator of the lobby. Conclusion: While this game is already incredibly immersive and fun to play I believe as all games are, could be improved as the community sees fit and could sway from what the Devs want to give the community some wanted features. Thank you for taking the time to read this incredibly long review. I promise my other reviews are not this long! I just have a lot of opinions for the possible direction of this game!
