It's very difficult to connect to my computer now. When I first bought this software, it took less than 10 seconds to successfully connect to the PC. Now it either completely fails to connect, shows “Try Again,” or can't even detect the computer at all! Currently, the only way I can remotely connect to my computer is by using Steam Link, which successfully connects in just a few seconds from launching the app. I really don't understand why VD gets harder and harder to connect with every update. This is the most basic and core function — it should connect quickly and reliably, not force users to spend ten or even thirty minutes every single time just to get it working.

I was HIGHLY considering getting a wire to play PcVr before I stumbled on a video on YouTube which recommended this app. I cannot thank the developers enough for this app. I’m going through an extremely hard time (as I’m sure many people are) in my life so to finally be able to play the games I’ve been wanting to play in VR properly means the world to me right now.

Great app if it not for Meta OS bugs

I use Virtual Desktop Streamer with OpenComposite (OpenXR) to replace Valve's SteamVR (still in beta) for playing Steam-based VR games on my Meta Quest 3. Unfortunately, updates to Meta Horizon OS are increasingly interfering with the functionality of Virtual Desktop Streamer. These issues arise from Meta's focus on prioritizing advertisements for its Store and developing social networking features, rather than enhancing VR gaming performance in Horizon OS. The problems began with updates that made it impossible to disable the unnecessary software on the Meta Quest 3, hindering the VR gaming experience. With each subsequent update to Horizon OS, Meta's obsession with transforming the Meta Quest 3 into both a social networking platform and a retail sales tool has negatively impacted its performance as a gaming headset. This has particularly affected playing Valve Steam VR games and has interfered with Virtual Desktop Streamer's ability to work around the deteriorating Meta Horizon OS and SteamVR systems.

Unusable.

Every other time I sit down to use this software, I waste an hour or more restarting it, restarting the software on my desktop, and verifying all of the settings. It just says "Establishing Connection" over and over again, sometimes saying "Connected" but never bringing anything up. At least if it brought up a black screen I would know my video driver was interfering again, but now it's not doing anything at all. It is extremely frustrating that the 'best' virtual desktop software runs so poorly. I've been trying to use it for almost two years now, across multiple updates. I'm not running anything revolutionary, I'm simply trying to connect my Quest 3 to a Windows 11 machine. When it works, it's great! But it's getting the connection that is an utter nightmare.

Slept on it for so long!

By far the best way to connect a PC to a VR headset. It offers a much wider choice of possibilities compared to Steam Link and Meta options. With such an array of settings you can make VR work even on a potato PC or laptop. All the game run smoother and better. This application is my sole reason to return to PCVR gaming.
