I Love This Game

If you're a fan of tabletop games with minis and some board game elements thrown in; like I do, you're going to love this game. The beatufully crafted map colors, and the tiles, really pop in VR, they look hand painted... the minis look good like they were hand painted as well. I love the fact it's in mixed reality and it doesn't require a internet connection, that's all a plus, plus, for me. In the game you have to level up and gather a team to fight some enemy in a tower. Whats cool is everytime you play the quest are different, you don't have to play the same quest in the same order, I really like that. The tutorial can be a little missleading, it makes it seem like you just go from map to map without making any decisions, but that's just the game hand walking you through the tutorial. Once you get out the tutorial the ganme opens up and you have to make choices on where you go, and how you apporch your quest. You can collec loot too. It's very simple and basic game system, but thats what I love about it. If you're looking for a fun offline solo rpg, with procedurally generated quest, you should buy this soon as you can

A great game and fantastic use of MR

Successor is a miniature RPG played in a diorama on a 3D tiled board, blending real-time and turn-based strategy in a way that feels natural and engaging. I found that experiencing Successor in mixed reality to be especially impressive. It feels like I'm living in the future playing this game that is floating right in front of me in my living space! The board itself can be easily and precisely positioned for comfort and ease. It took a little time to learn the mechanics of the game, but once everything clicked the experience becomes fluid and intuitive. There is a unique skill tree for each character, a wide variety of weapons that become unlocked as you play, various items, loot, lots of different enemies, detailed environments and gameplay decisions that add meaningful depth and replay-ability. I've probably played close to 30 hours so far and I'm still really enjoying the game. I play on my couch and in bed, and I find it to be engaging and relaxing, a great way to wind down after a day of work or school. Overall, Successor is a standout title and one of the most enjoyable VR experiences I’ve had this year - especially in mixed reality. Update 10-20: I'm still really hooked by this game and have been playing most days since I purchased it about a month ago, typically in 1.5 hour increments after work. I'm guessing I've played close to 50 hours all together. I completed the main mission after playing about 35 hours and I've been questing for more unlockable items since. For me, this is the most that I've played any game this year. The more I play the more I appreciate how well designed this game is, in function and aesthetically.

After the update

They patched it, Successor went from looking kinda bad to one of the better strategy games on quest! It is a solid title, the strategy is fun and somewhat demanding at times. The story is ok, so far. The graphics can be quite beautiful. Most importantly for a game like this the UI works, presentation is good and the VR mechanics are fairly solid(Grit and Valor could learn from this! It does still contain a bunch of bugs and graphical glitches and is in need of more improvements. Please keep working on this.

Hidden gem

This game suddenly appeared out of nowhere without any marketing, and it would be a shame if it went unnoticed, because there aren't many good VR RPGs. I didn't expect Successor to be so addictive, it absorbed me for hours. I really like the game mechanics, the characters and their skills and the fact that the battles are very tactical and require a lot of planning. Additionally, it is a roguelike and if you lose a battle you have to start the entire campaign over again, which makes you have to play carefully and the gameplay more exciting. It's great that it has a campaign editor, so after completing all six campaigns we can generate our own adventures. Sure, there are a few things that could be improved, there are some bugs, the skill trees are unclear, and the game's graphics have taken a significant downgrade compared to the flat version, but it still brought me many hours of fun. I recommend it to fans of RPGs and miniatures board games :)

The graphics are disappointing...bland

I can recommend this game for its gameplay... It got a lot of content and it's fun. However the graphics are seriously lacking for a quest 3 title. This brand new game looks like it has been super optimized for quest 2 support. There is no graphics toggle to enhance graphics. There is no PC VR version either with enhanced graphics. The texture quality is very low in many places. Those barrel textures in the war room are the worst I've seen. You can see how the 3d models of objects and characters don't look right because they have been optimized.By the looks of it, the graphic optimization was automated. No fluid motion in bodies of water, No fog, no shaders, no poison clouds, no auras.. shaders anyone? The graphics of this game are so dull and bland. The devs need to add a graphics option for quest 3 quality and a PC VR version with similar graphics to the stand alone PC version.There is also a bug that causes your 4th party member not to appear at mission start randomly. There is also a bug window that appears when a mission is finished that is about clicking on it with a mouse... Part of the PC port. Good game, lame VR port...
