I want so much to enjoy this. I want to pay $60 and I want to love this game as much as I love the flat version on my Xbox. But this isn’t it. It’s frustrating to move around, the graphics aren’t that good, the interface feels off, the yields look ugly as do a lot of the other in game assets. It’s not even an issue that like the resolution isn’t good or the frame rate, it’s just ugly where it shouldn’t be. The cities aren’t good looking, the units aren’t good looking, the map isn’t good looking. Ugh. I’m gutted because civ is my favorite franchise of all time. I have thousands upon thousands of hours into this franchise, and my quest is my favorite way to play right now. I’m afraid I’m going to request a refund and hope they can improve upon this, because it’s just not pleasurable…I have no desire whatsoever to continue playing this version.

TEMPORARY FIX FOR STARTUP CRASH

If Civilization VII keeps crashing at startup and there’s no support available yet, this workaround might help: Steps: 1. Go to General Settings > Storage on your headset. 2. Locate Civilization VII in the list. 3. Tap the data icon (to the left of the uninstall bin) and delete the game data. This will erase your save progress, but it should allow the game to launch without crashing. Please upvote this post so more people can see it. And 2K , please fix the game! As a developer who’s been working on VR since 2016— as a huge fan of both VR and the Civilization franchise—I believe this game has real potential in VR. It just needs some serious tweaking to deliver a smoother VR experience. I'm personally willing to help if needed.

$60 not well spent.

After restarting the headset and every other possible thing to try and make the game work well nothing seems to fix the horrible stutters around the war table. It looks and runs great everywhere else in the game, but once you get to the War Table it just falls apart. Not sure what the deal is but any time you move the map, look around the table it’s stuttering constantly. So guess I’m waiting for an update or a refund.

Crashilization never buy a Playside game

Four months since release, new update. There is still an issue where if you try to click on the quesionmark to get more info about what a critical and permanent choice does it will click the button for you instead. So game still not playable. :( Two months have passed since the last update and not a word about any plans to fix this mess. I'm going to learn from this and never do the stupid mistake of buying a playside studio game. They now released an update and the game still crashes when opening. Even more disappointed. Like so many others I started to have the problem where the game does not even start any more. Why did they publish such a broken game? Why has 2K started to publish junk? I have played every civ game since civ 1 with 4 colors and 320 x 200 graphics. Thousands of hours. I never expected to see a civilisation game on this shape. I really wanted to like it like all the other games on the series but this was rushed out far from complete. The UI is extremely clumsy, i constantly have to move my arms in uncomfortable positions to read the text. There are placeholder strings instead of names of objects. They have a huge button with choices that can not be undone and then to figure out what the choice actually does you have to click on a very small question mark in the upper right corner. Problem is that it's very easy to accidentally click the big button instead and make a choice when you really wanted to know what your choices wre.. The game also only has one very repetitive song that plays over and over again which is very annoying. Someone should feel pretty embarrassed for releasing a game in this state. It is not finished. Be aware that if you buy this game you purchase the right to be part of a beta test but as opposite to normal beta tests, there is no communication with the developers on discord etc. I wonder if they intend to fix these things at all it if they just dumped the game to cut their losses?

Careful with spending your money on this

I got to play it for about 2hrs. I really enjoyed what was there, but now when I try to launch the game a 2nd time, it just crashes right after the intro screen. Duplicated after restarting the headset and uninstalling, reinstalling the app. Can't refund due to playtime. App is an expensive space of digital waste for me now.
