Great game hidden behind greed

As a goalie, this is exactly what I wanted in a game, naturally it's behind and insane paywall (sorry guys, your comparison to practice and private ice costs is asinine) and I'll never be able to use it. 2025 in a nutshell. Oh also, it's marketed as 39.99 for the base game, but that's USD it's over $60 Canadian. Ridiculous.

Train in your living room!

Was great; goalie base game got removed

The newest update removed the drill-based NHL Season mode for goalies, replacing it with a 3v3 mode which I've found terrible in comparison to the old goalie drills in season mode. I got a lot of use out of my base game purchase, as it was a really fun way to work on my fitness (and I really enjoyed getting better at stopping pucks), but I'm also extremely disappointed that they just outright removed the whole reason I spent 40 bucks on the base game. I would understand putting new features behind new paywalls, but removing old features that were paid for is strange and disappointing.

So far so good!

After a 30-year hiatus, I had the crazy idea of joining a league and playing goalie again. I quickly realized that I am no longer 15, and that not only does my body ache for days after we play, but my reaction time is also awful. I was searching for a puck or a ball thrower to train in the garage, but I kept seeing recommendations for this app. A Quest 3 and an annual membership were cheaper than any good puck thrower I could find, so I bought it that night. I received the Quest a few days ago and started training immediately. I can now review it and say that it's great! My reaction time is already significantly improved, and watching the videos before each drill is already helping me level up. I'm excited to put those new skills to use next Sunday. It is not cheap, but it's also the best alternative you can find for doing more real-life training, and it actually works. The only negative is that I have no idea what's going on with the straps to attach the controllers to my glove and blocker that I bought with my membership. I have no tracking number yet, and there has been no communication about it. I haven't sent an email to support about it yet, but I wish they were a little more proactive about keeping you updated on your order.

Disappointing

You pay for a demo with approx 6 training scenarios each for goalie and player. The other stuff is locked behind a high cost anual subscription. If that's not disappointing enough, they removed the goalie season. Why remove content/value we paid for?! It could be so good and has lots of potential since the training drills, especially the real player footage, is fun and challenging.
