A sadly shallow experience

I really tried to love this one, as a fan of the classic point & click LucasArts adventures I was curious to see how Sam & Max would translate into a virtual reality experience. Sadly the result isn't what I had hoped, instead of embarking on a series of detective jobs & investigations that harken back to the clue finding in older games we're treated to an extremely basic set of minigames tied together by a loose storyline. The actual gameplay here feels like VR from 5 years back, lots of carnival style throwing & shooting games that make up the bulk of this 2.5hr/3hr long adventure that left me bored and uninspired. There are a couple of highlights where the game attempts to switch things up into an escape room style experience but these moments are short lived and ultimately have been done better in recent games like Floor Plan 2. All in all I'm not sure who Sam and Max VR is for, the humour & references are a little too abstract for kids and the gameplay mechanics are far too watered down for adults. I love this game so much don't listen to the people that say it's cheap mini games and no fun experience they just expect more then why you can get thank you for Reviving my childhood even if it is mini games it's still really fun and I enjoy it please keep up the good work I hope your pillow is ice cold on both sides your phone charger charges wirelessly I hope when you step on a leaf I hope it crunches like Lay's chips I hope you have a 12 wet dreams in a row and finally last but not least I hope you make more awesome Sam & Max Games

For those people thinking about buying and the people rating this low for "being just a bunch of mini games" and "filled with weird or unfunny jokes", I have one question for? Do you know who Sam and Max are before buying this? If the answer is no, then don't buy it. Done. Don't waste your money and time. If the answer is yes; you'll have more fun than yanking envelops from the gullets of foul mouthed street cats. Seriously... This game is for fans of the series and nothing more. Any bad review is taking the piss and do not understand the magic of seeing Sam and Max IN ANY GAME FORMAT. 5 Stars. You can cook corndogs.

Mini-games instead of real puzzles

I've been playing Sam & Max games since the original, and adventure games since Adventure was commercialised as Zork. One of the reasons for the death of adventure games in the late 90s/early 2000s was the cheap use of mini games in place of actual complicated puzzles. Sam & Max VR revives that dreadful genre. After a rather fun intro level, you go through painful mini game after mini game, hoping beyond hope that this is the last one and you'll get to a real wacky adventure with the dog and bunny. It just never happens. I'm sorry fellow Sam & Max fans, but this isn't the game you hope it is.

HOLY CRUD THIS GAME IS SO BAD!

I thought that this would be a fun game to play, buts it’s so bad! I had lots of confusion on where to go, kept getting soft locked (especially while climbing ladders), the gameplay was dull and boring, it was just a bunch of glorified mini games, and the comedy (in my opinion) was not funny whatsoever. I tried to give the game another shot. I just told myself “just get through the thing, even if you don’t like it.” But I couldn’t even do that! I DO NOT suggest this game to you. Please save your money for something else!
