Vendetta Online VR

Should be called tutorials online

Because they never end. I spent several hours doing nothing but the tutorials and it looks like i have hours more to complete tutorials on mining trading or whatever else. Maybe once you get your 2 year degree in vendetta its a great game out there but as a new player i just feel trapped. Also id recommend turning off the text to voice for your missions. Getting text read to you by a robot gets annoying fast. So the problem here for me is i dont ever spend hours at a time in vr. Either my phone gets hot and i start sweating or my face just gets sore from the uncomfortable headset. Or i have a family and a life i need to engage with which limits my time in vr. Thats not the devs fault but seems important to include in this review. The game is time consuming. All that said, it isss a beautiful space environment in vr, and the physics based flight is a fun challenge. Simple things like docking can be difficult. I think id really enjoy just exploring the universe if i ever get the chance. And guys for $3 you cant lose. The game is absolutely worth a download to see if youll like it. There is no other game out like this one for gear so far, and certainly no game as complete. The main question is how much time can you or do you feel comfortable with spending in vr. That will probably correlate with how much you get into this game.

Awesome!

I've only just started playing but so far it's really good. It has everything that you like about End Space or Starfighter Arduxum, and throws in RPG stuff. I may alter this score after spending more time, but for now I'm pretty pumped about this game.

Good idea bad game

This is a great idea for a game, especially in VR. But my issue with it is that the controls are primarily gaze-based and I don’t like that. But the tutorial takes 20-30 minutes so by the time you learn how to control your ship it’s too late for a refund. The whole point of VR, for me, is the ability to look around my VR environment. What good is it when looking to my left makes the ship turn left? I also tried other gaming controllers (e.g., Nimbus) but not all of the game functions worked (e.g., the boost didn’t work). I even tried a combination of controllers, Oculus go controller WITH the gaming controllers. Nothing worked.

I played this game on computer way back when (prob 15 yrs ago) played for a long time. Bought a go and decided to try it out. Looks great in vr. Go controller takes some getting used to but it took me about 15mins, really need a pad to take advantage of the game but a go controller will do. the Dev's through the years have done a great job with this game they've have taken it to a whole new level with vr and I bet it will just keep getting better. Game runs smooth on the Go.

See it like never before

For the past 13 years, Vendetta has been my "go to" electronic game. Modestly, this is the way it was meant to be played. The devs have outdone themselves once again in porting this compact, physics-based MMORPG to virtual reality. It really is like a brand new game. There is lots of polish and many clever touches that went into this port, obvious to me as a veteran player. Gear VR, here is your raison de etre.
