Super fun workout game

This is an awesome rhythm style boxing workout game! Each of the fundamentals are taught by Billy himself demonstrating form, and the game mechanics are broken down and introduced in small segments that reward completion of the learning process. I will say though, there are a lot to get through so don’t expect to jump straight into the main gameplay right away. The environments and art style are simple but fun and engaging, and I really love how targets fly off directionally with the impact you put in. It feels extremely satisfying and engaging. Each of the books have a totally different theme and environment and it keeps things fun and fresh. After mastering the fundamentals, you have four elemental books and one master book, each with twenty challenges, and there are also mini games / training exercises in the lobby. I get a fantastic and fun workout, and I can tell I’ll be putting lots of time into this one. Besides working out your body, you will have some serious reflex training with the quick reaction time required and continually tracking and hitting moving targets. That being said, there are a few downsides. This game is a serious fitness game, and it doesn’t really have accessibility features. You will be required to jump, duck, and dodge constantly, and you can’t turn those off in settings. You can enable “god mode” to get through the workouts, but that stops you from tracking progress and achievements. What’s even weirder is despite this requiring a serious fitness commitment, it also feels too gamified. There are many different mechanics and your brain has to be constantly giving just as much as your body in order to keep up with all the mechanics. I wish that these too could be turned on/off with an adjustment to score instead of just straight up not tracking anything to progress. Just something to know before going in. All that being said, this is day 1, and this is a serious and super fun workout game and a great reflex trainer as well.

Best VR Workout game out there

I'm really surprised this game isn't a lot more popular. I'm writing this review in the hope that more people will buy this game. I've tried a lot of workout games on VR, and this is probably one of the best, especially because there's no subscription service. I would say Supernatural used to be the best until it shut down. I liked Les Mills' BODYCOMBAT, but the problem with that game was that the music was terrible, and you couldn't turn it down. The great thing about this Tae Bo game is that you can turn down the music and turn on your Spotify, so you can listen to your own music while working out. One of the things this game has that other workout games don't is that the targets move in a snake-like pattern. It also has jumping, which you'd think other games would have, but it wasn't in Supernatural or Les Mills. I hope the developers keep releasing DLC.

okayish fitness game

I work remotely and mostly do strength training at home. It's winter and it's cold outside. When I need to recover from my actual training, games like these are a great way to increase activity and calorie burn and get blood flowing in a fun way without increasing recovery time. Taebo Reboot is not as high quality as some similar other well-known titles but it's okay. Music is pretty bad and often annoying and there are many exploits, such as the walls that should require the player to slip or side-step don't actually come in the way at all if you just stand straight in the middle. The coins and money bags seem to not add anything gameplay-wise and it feels pointless to collect them. The "speedballs" are often at eye level and block you from seeing what color the next one is if you don't awkwardly lean to the other side while punching. It's in early access but update changelog or roadmap is nowhere to be found so I can't be sure if it's abandoned already. Meta should require EA devs to push updates on a regular basis and communicate the changes to players.

I am too old for this

I use my Quest 3 purely for getting in about 30 minutes of a workout after a 12-hour workday. VR eliminates the time (that I don't have) for driving to and from the gym. I was really excited when I found out about Tae Bo: Reboot. I remembered the commercials from the '80s and was expecting a similar experience. This is not that. The app consists of small, bite-sized levels and 2-3 minute sessions packed with a lot of variation in moves, some not seen elsewhere, presented in a gamified experience. It has the celebrity factor—Billy Blanks' voice and likeness are everywhere—but it lacks some polish. The audio is inconsistent, with some comments sounding clear and others muffled. The graphics are nice, but there is too much focus on it being a game rather than a "fitness app." Collecting coins and experience points to "level up" is a cool and unique concept for this type of game, but getting a "fail" after completing a workout is not very encouraging. The bombs definitely do not help; getting an instant death from being hit by an object in a fitness app is a no-go for me. Without that element, the "levels" are challenging, but even at the beginner/tutorial stages, things move and change too quickly. The challenge is there, but it seems it's more of a "trick you" challenge rather than the challenge of a good workout. Suggestions/Requests: Please remove the bombs. Make the objects semi-transparent so you can see the next one or two objects and prepare yourself. Even at the beginner levels, there are portions where you only have a split second to completely change your arm direction. The walls need to be clearer. I play in XR mode, and the walls are hard to see when rendered over real-life objects. Include workout routines like the VHS tapes of the golden age. I was hoping the TV in the game would offer something like that, but it does not. Being able to "participate" in an actual Tae Bo class, whether recorded or in-game engine style, would be absolutely amazing.

I love this game so far

I have been out of shape due to a prolonged illness and I am trying to get back into fitness. I remember my marine friend mentioned Mr. Billy Blank's Taboe from back in the day. So, when I stumbled upon this jewel of a game with no subscription I was sold. It is well made game and meant for serious fitness as a previous reviewer stated. But it is also something you can built on I think. It's challenging enough to motivate you and not too challenging to make ya just quit. I like the mini games. I would suggest maybe a treadmill one and a music rhythm one with lights you can punch to a beat. Now this might be a bit far fetched suggestion but if I am not wrong Mr. Blank is a practioner of Wing Chung. So maybe a wooden dummy mini game too. Sorry , I am just excited about the possibilities and I love this game so far. Thank you for creating this and cant wait for future additions to it. I am still curious about the store and if there is anyone ever in his office.
