Great game but not really rouge like

It's a great game if you want a shooter this is probably the best one. However if you want a rougelike it's not your traditional rougelike. You get 4 items(chips) total and the majority of them are just basic stat boosts and you can't get the really fun ones like explosive bullets or trickshot(bouncy split bullets) till floor 5+, But by the time you find one your build is usually already set in stone and changing it can pretty easily kill you depending on what rooms you get. Still is a great game though. What its missing to be a true rougelike I Just wish they'd add a mode that allows you to just stack as many chips as you want will it be balanced no just double the enemies and call it a day your build will carry you from there. The best feeling in a rougelike is picking up every single upgrade you come across getting an op build and just shredding everything.

The effort is visible

This game is amazing every time you go through it it’s in a different patter of rooms and keep you coming back for something different every round. If you will stuck through this review you will see why this game is amazing First of the weapons,there is a variety of weapons from machín guns to auto shotguns even time slowing pistols then there’s the grenade physics, they are better than s lot of games grenades you don’t actually have to chuck you arm halfway across the room UPDATE: This is update they added melee weapons these weapons improve the game in so many way first off you can turn Jedi knight and deflect bullets with the new katana the throwing dagger makes you feel like ninja throwing poisonous daggers shaped similar to throwing stars that deal POISON DAMAGE and lastly the EMP spear this spear has so many different ways to combo its unbelievable Next there is the enemies, there are multiple different enemies consisting of what floor your one for example in the mines there’s a drill bot but in the slums there a sniper bot esc and the enemies just keep getting harder and harder some of them even drop upgrades Now finally the misc section, there are even different classes with different challenges to unlock even better parts of that class each class has there ups and downs and it’s fun to fit the abilities into my gameplay, next the developer actually listen, it’s not that often you find a game where the developers listen to the community as much as the devs do, next there is lore or at least I think there is but there are notes from a bunch of different people I have not found all of them but I am trying to peace the ones I do have together, finally the graphics in this game are really cool there different from a lot of other games it feels so creative I don’t exactly know how to put the feeling into words but why should i have to just give the game a try

A rougelike indeed.

This is the first time writing a review here in Meta. I am constantly looking for games that has high replayability factor in them and I can say that this game hit that itch that I am looking for. It has a lot of room for improvements(bugs and some technical stuff) as with almost all of the games out there but Sweet Surrender has a great potential to be great. What I love with this game or with all other rougelikes are the potential to end the run with really broken combinations as with this game; guns and mods. Suggestions: Add diffulty levels, boss for each last floor for each level and boss fights where you should do something unique defeating them like flicking a switch to reveal a weakspot or sprinting to a next location for aiming weakspots.

I played this game a year or more ago in the demo and liked it. I just played the finished game and now I LOVE it. Those whining about getting dizzy from "walking" and those bit@hing about game play and upgrades just have NO IDEA what they are doing. This game is addictive, fun and challenging. I can't wait to see if they add more runs.

Fun but flawed

This game bring something never seen before to the quest store : an action-packed roguelike shooter. And I'll admit, the core gameplay is pretty fun and addictive. Unfortunately, a myriad minor problems coming from the lack of polish(and probably from the lack of budget) keep me from praising the game too much. Whether or not you will enjoy the game will probably depends on your tolerance to those issues. some of those problems are: - really bugged collision system(how many time did I bugged in a wall or inside an object?) - unrealiable cover system due to the bugged collision - teleportation circles to platform are disorientating. - two-handed weapons are unewildy and imprecise - The different rooms are very similar looking and the background lack detail, even for a quest game Ect... You want to do cool things and shoots robots. But those issues just get in your way. You get in cover behind a box but your weapon get stuck in it. You want to shoot while using the zipline but your weapon is just to imprecise and goes all over the place. Now don't get me wrong, it is still a fun game and it doesn't really has any competition on the quest right now. But it both in regards to both it's presentation and it's content, it gets blown out of the water by most roguelike made by small indie devs on PC. Especially with recent releases. For the time being, it is good enough. But hopefully more polished games can come out once the VR platform gets more popular. And maybe this game could also get better with updates and new content.
