Truly shines when fully moving your body

The game itself is really fun, the gameplay is good, the modes are fun, and i haven't tried the multiplayer yet but it looks like it'll be good as well. But the game has a hidden strength: This game is amazing exercise if you let it be! You CAN choose to play this game just by swinging your arms back and forth to run, and use snap/smooth turning. The game has no leg tracking sadly, so you can chooss to run without using your legs. But where's the fun in that? What you can also do, is turn snap/smooth turning off so you need to turn around physically, then when running, move your legs while you swing your arms as if you are running on the spot, and jump up in the air for real when you jump ingame. And suddenly the game becomes intense exercise that feels amazing, and suddenly the value of the game skyrockets as an amazing exercise game. Seriously, there's nothing like running across rooftops as you run and jump in place! It feels amazing! I used to play Ring Fit Adventure over on nintendo switch which has sections that make you run in place and it's amazing exercise that makes you sweat buckets. Stride has replaced that for me, it's that good if you choose to play it this way! Devs, if you ever get the chance to get leg tracking in on standalone VR, please realise the potential you have here! Right now i need to add the movement myself, and it's optional, but with leg tracking this could become part of the game! (but you may wanna add the option to toggle leg tracking on or off for those who don't wanna fully run to play it)

Bad Control Scheme

I hate to leave bad reviews, but I feel like I need to warn some potential buyers of some design choices. I saw the game and thought "Mirror's Edge in VR", and I'm sure that's what it's going for. However, the locomotion system is whack. To run, you swing your arms by your side and to jump, hold A and lift arms when you release it. This is immersion breaking and janky. Anyone that does free running in real life knows these motions your arms do are to keep your balance in tune with your feet - choosing them as the design choice for motion controls in a game where your feet aren't moving; terrible choice. Your hands should be just for grabbing things, there's no reason to have to wave your arms around like a fool and remind yourself that your feet aren't moving and you're playing a game. The devs have stated they do not wish to patch the game with controls that make sense because they like this system and the game is competitive and since you need your arms to pull your gun - you can't shoot while running and it takes skill to know when to run and when to shoot - or something like that. But I think it's a terrible design choice and I wish I hadn't waited longer than the 14 day return period while trying to give the game it's fair shake. If the controls were fixed - it could be a fantastic game (don't play it sitting, things get weird; but works great while standing); however, these controls just feel ridiculous and constantly remind you it's a game and you feel weird just flailing your arms around for no apparent reason aside from the devs thought it would be cool. It's not cool - it's annoying. It's immersion breaking and totally unnecessary. They literally have a button for jumping, but you have to lift your arms in addition to that. You feel like that kid who used to tell crazy stories in class and are using their arms to denote when they ran and when they walked. Horrible design choice - I hope this review can save you some money if you feel the same. Because it seems like it could be a great game - I like the graphics and the controls not related to moving and most of what the game is about, but those motion controls are just too ridiculous.

Good game, just stopped making updates.

When I use to play back in 2021-2022 with my friends, it was a lot of fun! But they stopped releasing updates and started paying attention to stride fates, Their newer stride game. I still play this game on the solo modes because there isn't anymore players. Only 1 time a week I'm actually able to find a match. I would recommend buying the newer one if you are thinking about buying
