You guys really are something else.

You've some nerve hyping up this DX upgrade for years, and think people have a freaking basketball court to play vr in. You didn't do ANYTHING to the base experience. Same UI. Same music. Same stupid game. But then, lo and behold all the DX content with its flashy graphics and new weapons and new maps and new textures new content is locked away in this esoteric little mode. It couldn't even spill over into the base experience in the slightest? How privileged are you guys? You've no capacity for empathy in your player base at all. You are so beyond out of touch with us it's out of this world. When I spoofed my guardian to go into arena and loaded into that menu I wanted to throw up. All that effort went into that mode. You have all this content and you bury it in the mode to such a degree it's almost like you spite the original game. Like we're trash for loving it. It's so far removed from the base game it literally has sharper graphics and new sound. But who the hell is going to play it? You little rich snobs really didn't deserve my ten dollars. You definitely shouldn't get your fifteen. I hope you enjoy all the angry refunds from people with literally regular lives, with apartments and roommates, who work in offices and whom aren't outside with their VR headsets or looking for friends to join them at the handball court at the gym. Oh actually nvm, most of those would be too small to play Arena. 10m by 10m? You guys have to be the worst VR game designers of all time. Echo Arena manages to create an arena experience tripling this distance that paraplegic participants can play in their own homes. This sucks. It's shameful.

Updating from 4 to 1 star

Stop celebrating this update, it's awful. Arena mode is not even playable for most people. "Turn any indoor space" is a complete lie. It requires 10meters by 10meters of space. An above average completely empty master bedroom is half that size. Who and where are you expecting people to play this? This update is rediculous. Why even bother with it? Most VR arcades (may they rest in peace) couldn't even support that size requirement. Are you expecting location based VR or something? During a pandemic? What a poorly executed let down. But with all the Oculus store hype, you at least made space for ego. I wonder if the arena game is even any good, I'll never know I guess. Let's put this in perspective, you're asking for over 1,000sq ft of space to play arena mode. And you can't even bother to put that hard requirement in the details? You've been in VR so long you've lost touch with reality.

Give Me Your Money, Figure It Out

There seems to be loads of different types of guns, shields, power-ups, etc. A normal developer would introduce each one of these mechanics one by one, letting the casual gamer increase in skill as the game increases in difficulty. Not this developer. This developer says now that we have your money, you’re on your own. “Figure it out, numb-skull,” this developer says. A short tutorial basically shows you two of the games many mechanics. Want to know how to change guns? “Figure it out,” they say. Want to know what all of the icons mean? “We don’t care.” Want to know how the shield and light-saber work? “That’s what YouTube is for.” What do the ammo lights on the guns communicate? “Shut-up, sucker.” Hey, what is Old School mode? “Just because we put it in there, we don’t have to tell you what it is!” Are you a casual gamer looking for an updated version of the classics? “Move on, Boomer.” This is but a partial list of things the developer left out. I guess they haven’t figured out that it’s basically free to put some text in a game. Quest 2 is supposed to be for both hardcore and casual gamers. Unless you are a hardcore gamer or want to go digging online for instruction, guides, and tips, avoid this game. Could have been amazing if the developers had less contempt for newbies. When will developers figure out, that’s a game being frustrating because you don’t know how things work is NOT fun. There is NOTHING fun about putting in hours without progressing, because you still don’t know the basic rules. I guess if you make the user invest hours learning the very basics, you’ll have to give out less refunds. I have over 20 O2 games, many both fun AND hard. But those games aren’t hard for lack of a decent manual or guide. This is the first time a game provided no DECENT tutorial or guide to what’s-what.

Oldie But A Goodie!

It's a very old game by VR standards. I remember this being one of the first games I played when I first got my original HTC Vive Headset. The game has been updated a bit, but not a ton. It still holds up okay. You shoot things in the sky and try and dodge the bullets. It does get pretty hard fast. Classic arcade type where you progress in waves as each round gets harder. Not much to this game, but what it offers it works well. Since it's on Quest+ right now, it's a good game to waste a few minutes in, or easy enough to show off to new VR players.

VR GALAGA!

Ok so just to be clear this is not Galaga but any fan of the old school game will no doubt be reminded of the classic game. Very simple game of shoot all the aliens while dodging their fire. I need to better understand the turret system and when it should be used but even just playing the game with a shield and gun is awesome on its own. I try to play mostly active games in VR so I am getting a workout. If you have a wide open play space this game will give you one helluva workout when you have the option to run around to evade fire. Even if you are in a smaller playspace you will be constantly moving your body. I always get at least 1 game in in the middle of some of my more intense athletic games. Definitely worth the buy!
