Pretty cool so far

I could see a lot of people hating on this one for the lack of instructions but I personally love the idea of having to figure everything out on your own. It feels pretty good to go from “what the heck does this lever do” to pro-mech operator all on your own. Only completed a few runs so far but excited to keep going back to explore! Graphics look great on Q2 and the controls work exactly like they should. The oculus store is overrun with subpar lack luster games so it’s nice to pick up one I don’t feel like returning immediately after trying it out.

Hidden Gem: Submarine Sim With a Twist.

I must have seen this game many times on the store skipping over it over the past months because of the poor title. This is not a rogue game and this is not an escape the room. But it may have some elements of them. The main problem of this hidden gem is the misleading title. It will attract the wrong people with its name while keeping people like me away. As a big fan of Iron Wolf (WW2 submarine simulator on PCVR), I was surprised to see that something somewhat close to that exist on Quest 2. It feels like a submarine simulator, but it is much more than that. I feel like a kid operating that big “Nauticrawl” levers and buttons, but that is only part of the fun. The main attraction here is the weird, mysterious and fascinating universe and story. It does not tell you much and let you fill the blanks yourself. It does not hold your hand, you have to experiment a lot to find out how that thing works. Once you find how it works, it is logical, so it does not feel like a puzzle, but a real Diesel-Electric machine. The look and feel is something out of 20 000 leagues under the sea. It looks old, beautiful and decorated with all sorts of ornements, yet remain utilitarian. You can play while sitting, but you may have to stand up and move once in a while. The art design and sounds are absolutely fantastic. So if you dream of stumbling on an old locomotive abandoned in the woods and trying to make it work again is your type of thing, this sim (I refuse to call that a game, because it feels real) is for you. Also you need to enjoy solitude, because you will be stuck in that giant machine for a while. In a way, it is mechanically closer to Star Trek Bridge Crew, but you are by yourself and you don’t see much outside. PS : I only found out about the true identity of this game by an obscure reviewer on Youtube. A better name would be “Nauticrawl Escape : Rogue Machine”. It took me 5 hours to finish the game the first time, and I felt such a withdrawal, that I played again another full game. This game is a ……… simulator with a Myst mechanic. The whole experience has an Explorers (1985) movie vibe.

I love the idea of it but need more help

I was intrigued by the theme of this one. And I love the look of it and the feel of driving this giant machine. But after I finally made it through the first level I just kept failing. I think for someone like me who is just a very casual gamer, a game like this needs more hints and more ways to get help in the game. I remember for one part of the first level I actually had to get off the VR and look up a YouTube video in order to figure out what it was that I was missing. I shouldn't have to do that. There should be in-game hints or suggestions and there were but there weren't enough. And because there are no windows and you have to drive this thing on radar alone, it makes it very frustrating. I can't figure out for the life of me what I need to do to stop running low on power and fuel. I've tried so many things and I'm at a loss. Plus in level 2 I'm not even sure what I'm looking for and the computers add to the confusion. It's an interesting game, but for me it's too much like work.

Looks great and runs great…slow burn.

****This game is essentially “I expect you to die” with out a sense of humor. ***Make sure your play space is big enough.. for real. I just started in to it this evening.. so far I have basically already become a mech-pilot…sooo yeah..skillllss.. I’m not at all familiar with this universe.. so it’s all new to me. Looks great on Q2 runs great even at high resolution. The button pushing is a little dumpy I have to mess with it for the finger to point.. it would be great to have gloves or hands and not just ghost hands.. but whatever that’s small stuff. Otherwise I am intrigued.. I have no idea what I’m doing.. as I imagine most people will feel.. a lot of folks will drop this game pretty quickly if they are expecting a faster paced game. Look.. it’s a puzzle game.. and when you mess up… you start alll over lol.. good times. I love the mechanics though. Gets the brain going.

Just a little help!

It wouldn't take much, just a little help and this could be a top title. Unfortunately, I didn't have a clue. Myst was easy, Fisherman's Tale was fun, Red Matter was terrific... this one? Impenetrable. Odd choice, make a game so difficult to play people just give up and buy something else, which I did.
