A great game, with one major flaw.

The game is a lot of fun, having taken some of the best part of Assassin's Creed and maybe a little from Stride. The parkour is smooth, intuitive and satisfying, and the VO and animation are great. There is one serious flaw, however, that I hope will be fixed in the future: if you want to kneel in the game, you have to use the B button on your controller; physically kneeling is not an option. You know how there's always a part of the game's tutorial where you have to duck under some low-hanging debris or something to proceed and the game tells you what button to push to kneel? In most games, I ignore this instruction and just get down on my knees and proceed without issue. In this game it would not let me pass until I pressed the stupid button, even though my head was easily beneath the obstacle I was trying to crawl under. Like an invisible force field was holding me back. What's more, usually when you vault up to a higher surface, it forces you into an artificial crouch and you have to press the button to stand back up. I THINK physically kneeling works in combat situations, for ducking shots or hiding behind cover to avoid detection. But even then, your arms appear to be coming down from above your head, where your shoulders would be if you were standing, so it's pretty immersion-breaking. Don't get me wrong - being able to press a button to kneel for those who want or need it is a great feature to have. But when I'm in VR I want to physically embody my character as much as possible, and I don't think I'm alone in this. Please, devs, give us the option to use our actual knees! Edit: Thank you for the response! I will definitely update my review if this is rectified.

Amazing!

Don't listen to the bad reviews cause this game is GREAT! I have only played for 2 hours so far and am loving EVERY second of it!! It just keeps getting better and better! Easily my favorite game of the year so far and that includes Batman and Of Lies and Rain and quite a few others that are actual games. This is a full game with pretty dang good graphics and such a cool story and fun af mechanics and the parkouring is next level good! I love the hidden upgrades and it all just looks and feels so cool! Haven't played such a good, full-length game since Asgard's Wrath 2. Will update my review once I beat it with gameplay time Update:beat it in 5 days which to me is a pretty good run time lol It was just amazing and while it did crash on me like 3 times it was mainly smooth af and SUCH a good story

Great

I have just completed Reach. It was, overall, fantastic. I was worried that I might experience some bad bugs like others have reported, but thankfully it was mostly a great experience. There were a few bugs here and there but nothing serious. A couple of times, upon loading a new area, it crashed. When I re-opened the game it carried on from the right place with no problems. On a couple of other occasions, the loading screen didn't go away, although I could hear the sounds of the new level. Again, restarting the game solved this. Apart from that, the issues were minor - finding myself buried in a wall etc, only a couple of times, but nothing more severe than I encounter in practically any other Quest game. The vast majority of my time in the game was brilliant. The combat seemed dull at first, but as it developed with the introduction of new arrows and attacking variations it became great fun, allowing for a lot of experimentation. Similarly, the parkour became second nature, allowing for ever more exciting leaps. The set pieces were many and wonderful! A really immersive, exciting, fun experience. I found this to be one of those games that I lost track of time whilst playing, often having to come off only when my headset warned me that the battery was about to die. I've not written a review before, but felt the need to due to the negative ones out there, which almost put me off buying the game (other games, I still haven't bought because the reviews are so scathing). I don't expect perfection from Quest games, I just want to enjoy my time. Reach definitely deserves a place in my "must play" titles, for the way it looks, feels, plays. The bottom line for me is: did I have a huge amount of fun playing it, and if I had my time again would I purchase it? A big fat yes! For me, it's up there with Arkham Shadow, Red Matter 1 and 2, Moss 1 and 2, Arizona Sunshine Remake (I haven't played the 2nd one, that's my next adventure!), Behemoth, Shadow Point, The Last Clockwinder, Assassins Creed Nexus and Shattered.

HOLY explosions and parkouring!

So much explosions and action! And a lot of running around, jumping, and climb walls like you’re parkouring while being Shot at by a helicopter! The graphics are a bit disappointing so far. Not bad but just not what I expected for a game at this price. At first, I thought I bought the wrong game cuz you start in a city as a stunt double agent shooting “bad guys” with a fantasy looking bow and arrow while they have guns lol. There’s something about the bow that doesn”t “feel” right. The drawing of the string inst as intuitive as it is in skydance’s behemoth. Bit of a learning curve where you have to be in running motion to jump. Cant just jump whenever you want which is weird. But otherwise an intense action packed game so far and looking forward to diving into it more!

I really wanted this game to be great

I was looking forward for quite sometime to this game. Way too many bugs/jank right away…. and all throughout the game. No way to roll back if you get stuck, and having to start all over when you are hours in is disheartening. I want to enjoy a game and have fun, but this game took so much out of me trying to get it to work, I really dont want to finish it. I currently cannot finish anyway. I am near the end with and no way to progress due to a game breaking bug. I can understand releasing something with a few issues, but HOW could this have been released in this state? ** I will update ratings based on patches Edit: I have upgraded my review to a 5 star, as it is really a great game… A rough start releasing a game in a buggy state really hurts the devs, but it worked out. This game really is amazing, and it’s too bad we wont see anything like this again in the future… maybe I shouldnt have complained so quickly
