A soild rhythm game.

Rager is a hard hitting rhythm game that delves into the darker heavier electronic/drum and bass genres. The games Early Access launch comprises of 12 tracks spread over 3 different difficulties. The journey from easy to hard is challenging, but fair, as you get a hang of the games 360° gameplay. The game focuses on both attacks and deflects where there is subtly differences in how you deal with them (a swipe or a push forward into the note) Whilst the dodge notes will have your ducking and weaving like your Neo from the Matrix.....well not quite XD (make sure you have plenty of space before you start!) Its has a decent amount of content at launch but being an Early Access release, Im expecting more songs to be added over time and thus giving me a reason to keep returning to the title. For fans of Beatsaber that love the 360° maps and would like one that puts more emphasis on perfect timing (there a marker to help you time each slice/deflect perfectly)....Rager may be just what your looking for.

Rhythm, Until You Fall & Beat Saber mix

Received for free for pre-release testing. It's a good looking rhythm game that gets the heart pumping without feeling like a workout. The music is good and the game is on beat. Reminds me of "Until You Fall" in that you have to attack and block with specific movements according to the indicated markers, while being a rhythm game like Beat Saber or others, where you have to be on beat. I like the combination, and there are boss fights. Overall a visual style that is well executed and works well on the Quest hardware and I really like the art style. Devs listen to feedback and implement changes quickly, great response. For me one of the better workout oriented offerings

Needs improvement

I really like this game, the artwork and the music. But there needs to be some common sense adjustments. I understand the Dev wants to provide variety, but a sword and punching hand together is silly when you have to punch and slash an enemy at the same time. This makes no sense realistically and breaks immersion. You can't use a long range weapon and punch at the same time, that just messes up your sense of distance and timing. Have some enemies that are sword attacks and some that are close range punches, not both together. The worst for me, and what made me quit was one enemy I had to straight punch and slash diagonally at the same time. I mean come on, that's just anatomically impossible for the player to do. I recommend the dev maybe contact some martial arts schools that train with weapons to playtest the game, they will give you good feedback on how to improve the mechanics so players aren't injuring themselves trying to do impossible things. Also, I noticed in the campaign the enemies sometimes blend together, also sometimes the obstacles blend with the enemies at the same time aswell. Very disorienting and you are forced to choose and lose either way.

Possibly the next big rhythm game

If there's just one thing I can tell You before playing - it's unexpectedly hard, it's OK to drop the difficulty to easy and start from there - it's quite fun there already! I dont really vibe with beat saber, I do love Pistol Whip though. There's something about the fight that makes it so much better than just cutting through cubes. Rager is exactly that, the thrill of the fight with cutting, smashing, punching, blocking and dodging, all to the rhythm of a great soundtrack. It's super satisfying to get good at, and its a great way to get a little workout in while feeling like a bada**.

An Absolute BANGER!

This game is sooo much FUN. Action filled, rhythmic fights with heart pounding music. in VR mode I really feel like I am the hero in a sci fi action movie. The mixed reality mode helps me to play it confidently in my small room without worrying to punch walls and furniture. This game is 10/10!
