Not awful

The environment is nicely done. The puzzle is challenging enough. But the controls leave a lot to be desired. It would be really nice to have Bluetooth controller support.

Really good puzzle

I really like this game. I’ve played maybe 15-20 times getting further and further each time and I think I almost beat it. It’s a great challenge highly recommend.

Could be better

I love a good puzzle game, but this one needs some tweaks. Need sharpening with controls and also some clues, there’s no way to make it to the end in that time with no help.

Might be easier to escape a real prison

Seems like it took some time, but someone finally recognized that the prison-break concept was a natural setting for a good escape room experience. I just assumed it was by the same developers as Escape Room VR, being that the overall game engine looks identical. Oddly enough, these are two different developers. If this were an add-on or a continuation to that title, this would easily rank as the most difficult of the rooms. I guess it stands to reason that a prison cell would be the most difficult room a person could possibly escape from, but man, is this thing tough. I love challenges and having to think outside the box, but here you get so stumped that you find yourself basically just clicking randomly until something happens as you race against the (fast!) clock. Some of the solutions are either absolutely dumbfounding (telling yourself “yeah, I never would have guessed that.”), or impossible to decipher because the lighting in the app is so bad. Seriously, this environment is SO dark. It’s impossible to see some of the numerals you have to decode; you find yourself having to guess anyway. (“Is that a 3 or an 8? Or maybe it’s a B?”) Once I finally finished the challenge and escaped the cell, I felt less a sense of accomplishment rather than the lucky feeling of landing into the right spots. Overall, it was not an unpleasant experience, but it also lacked the energy, vibrancy, and smooth progression of the other escape rooms I have played. I would recommend it only after having played Escape! VR and Escape Rooms VR first, and then needing to further get your escape room fix.
