Really nice combo of rhythm and climbing

Refreshing new take on rhythm games by making you climb, twist grip, drop and jump in time to the music. Feels great when you get into the flow zone. Good choices of difficulty levels but would be nice with a bit more variety in type of songs. Developer seems very open to feedback and patches have been good, looking forward to future updates.

An original and fresh rhythm game !

P.Rythm is a music video game that attempts to stand out in this highly competitive genre by combining rhythm and climbing. The game is accessible to everyone (standing/sitting) and doesn't cause motion sickess. The game currently consists of 7 tracks (each with 3 difficulty levels). Musically, it's quite eclectic : you'll either love it or hate it. Graphically, the game is quite simple and clean. Each level follows the same structure/scenery : you start on a platform and ascend not using your climbing skills, but by using a hexagonal elevator platform that you grip onto and perform climbing moves according to a predefined pattern inside it. Which is unfortunate because it gives the impression of moving around in a square. The game has numerous options for customizing your experience. You'll also have detailed stats on your run to help you improve. There's a leaderboard too. Regarding the gameplay itself : Each hand is represented by a color and you should follow the pattern shown on the screen. You'll encounter climbing mechanics introduced progressively throughout the levels : holding a hold with two hands, letting go to land lower, rotating a hold, jumping, etc... Failure isn't very punishing (a good thing) because you can always recover from a missed sequence. Paradoxically, the more the difficulty increases, the less you feel like you're playing a climbing game and at the maximum difficulty level, it becomes a pure tap-tap rhythm game where reflexes take precedence. The visibility is a problem too. The game is not a workout either and you will never break a sweat, so don't buy it for that. The foundations are there and quite solid (broadly reminds me quite a bit of a "budget" Beat Saber) but the balance between climbing and rhythm game is a little unbalanced. Visually, I feel like something's missing too. I am also surprised by the responsiveness, attentiveness and desire of the studio to do well. This is really noticeable (hence the more lenient rating).

Great combi of beat saber and climbing

I've been playing this game since the beta test. Although it is EA, you can enjoy a fairly completed game reflecting a lot of feedback over a long period of time. Holding the holders in turn with the hands set to the music's beat seems simple, but there are many obstacles, such as speeding up the beat in the middle and having to twist the holders in a set direction. There are even holders that you have to jump to hold like rock climbing, and if you lose both hands in a panic, you fall to the floor and it's hard to regain the rhythm and position. Please get the hang of it at a low level and try to reach a high level. It's still hard for me to get to the end above the intermediate level. It's not just fitness, but it's a great app that allows you to exercise and build agility to some extent. There are not many titles of songs yet, and there are no popular songs of various genres, but I look forward to gradually expanding.

Climbing + Rhythm = match made in heaven

I am personally in love with rhythm games, and I think that climbing is one of the funnest things in VR. This game is such a fantastic fusion! There are plenty of personal settings to adjust latency, which is a must for me in a rhythm game, and there are a bunch of fun mechanics like twist grip and downward dynos that feel insanely satisfying when you drop in to the beat of some fun tunes! I would like more places/arenas to climb, and more content in general for its longevity, but it is new for now and what is present is fantastic!

Very different rhythm game

I've been really enjoying rhythm games in VR, so I decided to give this one a shot. To my surprise, it turned out to be an even better experience than I anticipated. The levels of difficulty present quite the challenge. You can get into a good flow once you get the hang of it. One downside is that it could use a bit more variety in the music selection, which seems to be a common issue with many new rhythm games. I’m excited for new music and would happily pay for quality DLC.
