Good if no alternatives

This is the first and only available vr mmorpg right now, which makes it a must buy product. Unfortunately this is all about pros. Cons: - The graphics is not good but still suitable. - Not newbies friendly. - Strange mechanics. Like every class has his own mini game to perform during the battle. Some of it even looks interesting, but exists in a stupid way. Like a mage here has to memorize and draw runes in the air which is challenging since it needs to be done without any mistake. It would be fun if after all the hard drawing you cast something really powerful that insta kills a mob or does a lot of area damage. But instead you do just regular dps and have to spam a "B" sign like an idiot. Which in the end of the day just makes you pick a Scoundrel (a class with a handgun) and do no brain spamming of shots. - Lack of diversity. As I said there is no regular classes here since the mechanics are pretty strange and annoying. The problem could be solved by adding a system of talents or specs. So you would have this rune mage, but also some classic fire or ice mage and can choose your own play style. Still there is no such system in a game. The conclusion: This is the first game of it's kind and would be a must buy and must play as long as there are no competitors nearby. But I'm afraid the first alternative that comes to the market (for example Ilysia) will kill it. Cause people want classic wow like game style and user friendly experience. As for me, I enjoy it since there are no alternatives.

Great MMO but might not be for you.

So let me start by saying I'm pretty new to VR. I've sunk in at least 15 or more hours already into the game and I've barely scratched the surface. It's got a ton of activities to do which are standard in MMOs like dungeons and questing, but some other very interesting side activities you can get completely lost in as well like fishing, dragon racing/breeding, alchemy, capturing animals, etc... Normally in an MMO stuff like alchemy or fishing can sound boring, but when you're actually having to do it yourself in VR it's a game changer. The social aspect of the game has been very positive, so many times while playing I bump into really friendly people that gave me tips on how to play the game and just chill out together questing and messing about. I've only tried out the Warrior and Archer class so far, they both had very unique mechanics on how to play them which made it feel very different and fun from standard MMOs. The reason this MMO might not be for you is mostly because the game doesn't hold your hand as much like other MMOs do. There are in-game tutorials which help but only cover the basics, so you will need to either look it up or ask people in the game how things work. But personally I like the fact you need to communicate and research yourself some of the mechanics of the game. Makes it feel very social and the community is so nice in my experience that they'll help you out with any problems. There are a few issues with the game like some glitches/bugs and the graphics are pretty simple. I'm playing this on the Quest 2 and they said they will upgrade the graphics for it before the end of the year. I still think the game's graphics have there own charm but it might not be for everybody. The reason I wanted to do this review is because the developers seem so invested in this game, new expansions and free areas/events keep getting added and it only has signs of improving with the bigger playerbase thanks to the Quest 2 launch. This is a very high value game that you can play for a long time.

Good game with room for improvement

I started playing this game about 3 days after getting my oculus, and just now hit the 5 hour mark. Unfortunately for me I get motion sickness that limits my sessions to 1 hour max. The game features several controls to minimize this but they aren't you so it's hit or miss for some. Of the available classes, I tried musketeers and runecaster. Musketeers is pretty straightforward. You get a gun and a bunch of orbs at the start. AFAIK all orbs are unlocked from the start and levels progress the effectiveness of them. You are allowed to equip 4 at a time and they float around the gun. Using your off hand you have to grab them while they are spinning around the barrel of the gun and manually load them, then shoot to cast its effect. If your aim is off then RIP. It is a bit forgiving if you hit the floor underneath your target. You can also deal damage by pulling the trigger without a ball loaded. It is known as the best healing class in the game but one of the worst for damage. Runecaster is much more complex. To start you get a wand and nothing else. Before you can cast spells, you need to learn runes (which is not explained to you at all by the way) from specific locations, one being inside the starter town. To cast actual spells you have to manually draw the runes then press a button activate it. The drawing is similar to tiltbrush in the fact that it draws in a three-dimensional plane. The catch is that the runes mostly use two dimensions and players are prone to mistakes because of it. Some spells have a bit of leeway. I would suggest anyone starting this class first to party with others because until you get muscle memory for the primary damage spells you will die over and over again. So far my journey has been solo. Leveling consists of grabbing quests from town, completing the quest objectives and then turning them back in from where you got it. I am glad to see that this game allows good Samaritan healing, meaning you can heal others without being in a party. Improvements and suggestions for this game are as follows: a more robust runecasting tutorial with at least a guide to tell you about the runes at spawn, some form of tips on why a spell cast failed (reprint your rune submission with a red outline for the areas you messed up on), and at least one more additional shard or the ability to start a new shard in high congestion areas like spawn, outside the first city and inside the first city. Oh, and please put a sign around that blue barrier letting people know you can walk through it. I spent like my first hour thinking you couldn't and assumed that mobs were somewhere else. This is just my two cents to be taken with a grain of salt since I haven't played the full game.

Better than I expected

I don't like mmo's so I didn't think I would enjoy this game as much as I do. I wanted an rpg where I can adventure, fight, cook, etc. It came down to this and zenith. Unfortunately they are both mmo's. I chose orbus because it seemed to offer more. In orbus you can have a pet dragon, they don't fight as far as I know but you can breed them and there's obstacles you can play with them. Fishing is even interesting and I like how you have to make lures to fish, different lures catch different types of fish. You have your house that if you want you can decorate, but it's nothing fancy. There's no cooking but there's potion making which is close enough for me. The community is also a gem. Like I said I don't like playing mmo's because I'm introverted in games and usually the community is trash but I haven't seen a single jerk in orbus. Everyone has been extremely nice and helpful. At one point I ventured too far, my armor was no good and the monsters were too strong for me, someone showed up and helped me in a bad situation. I wished I friend requested them. It can be a little buggy but even still, with everything and especially the community, I give it a 5 star.

Immediate regret after purchase.

Got the game when I heard it was a VRMMO. Love me some VR and love me some MMORPGs. Picked a pretty easy to grasp class to start off with and ran into an issue. Despite me reading everything I could. Couldn't figure out where to go, I spent a solid 30 minutes just trying to find who I needed for the tutorial. Got frustrated and put the game down. Looked up a guide (which is heckin ridiculous. It's a TUTORIAL, why do I need a guide for that?) Did what I needed to do and got into the combat. I picked the Warrior because it seemed simple enough. When I checked out the guide, I also looked up how to play the warrior properly. I heard the game was skill based and I totally down for that. I watched the video, figured out the combos and got back into it. Had to have the book by me to remind me, so I can get used to using the combos in game. Tested on a dummy and whiffed over half my combos as the game can't register my upswing. Considering the combos are a main source of damage, not being able to use any of them made the game significantly harder to play. Someone suggested Runemage, as they have a difficult skill ceiling, but over all better experience. I gave it a try. Couldn't cast anything at first. Had to look up another guide. Watched everything and noticed that my journal lacks the spell tab? Idfk why, so I had to literally memorize as many patterns as I could. In the heat of combat, spellcasting is unpolished as crap. The most I could pull off was a fireball here and there and even then it was really hard to figure it all out. After only 5 or 6 minutes of trying to fight enemies as a runemage my arm felt like it was going to fall off because I have to have my arm completely outstretched to cast spells due to the "invisible whiteboard" which by itself is a seriously flawed system. Have you ever tried to draw a completely flat (which the game requires of you) image when there is literally nothing to stop your hand from moving else where? I chucked my headset twice now in frustration trying to get this crap to work. Combos don't work half the time, spellcasting is literally painful, the compass doesn't really help ever, the game looks AWFUL. The only redeeming quality this game has is the player base, which are super helpful in trying to figure out the game. You can tell they really just want players to give it a try. But I can't do it. I wanted to like this game. I can forgive most stuff in VR, but this is honestly too much. For a game that's been available for 3 years, there needs to be some level of polish, bit there is none. Never picking this game up again.
