Horrible business model, absolute scam!!

Having purchased the original Homestar VR app I was annoyed when this “Special Edition” was released at more than double the price. In the original app (now removed from the store) there were 3 environments with place holders for further to come, I expected at some point they would be released as an update and not a whole new app at more than double the price. Curiosity got the better of me and I bought the special edition to see what had been added and this is the same experience with a few minor updates at best, it should have been a free update to the original app. No new environments, the same place holders for what I assume will be future updates but nothing worth paying for again. I’ve never requested a refund as quickly! This is a horrible business model and a dreadful way to treat customers, don’t get me wrong the app itself is actually good but I purchased it for £7.99 and instead of updating it they have removed that app, posted a new app as a special edition with minor differences and charged £18.99. For that alone I would advise against buying it as this behaviour is not something that should be encouraged. Shameful.

Disappointing

I am an amateur astronomer. I was looking for an application that would allow me to identify stars in virtual reality by clicking on them. This does not seem to do that. Rather, it gives a predetermined storyline explaining the stars that the viewer simply watches. There is very little interaction. I haven’t had it for very long but it does seem limited in this respect. The ability to interact with the program is one of the short falls. That being said the graphics are beautiful the music is fantastic and it is a nice program. Just don’t expect to be able to point to an identify stars and move the sky with your hand controllers

Missing One Important Feature

This app needs to add a new optional setting to allow you to specify your home location (name of city, longitude, and latitude). World Sky Time Travel should then use your home location (if specified) rather than defaulting to Tokyo, Japan. It is a pain in the @$$ to have to specify the location every time I open World Sky Time Travel. If this feature were available, I would rate the app FIVE STARS.

Dissatisfied

As a casual enthusiast I was a little disappointed with this for the price. The main feature has various tours of the night sky with the focus on constellation shapes and its associated Roman and Greek myths, rather than the science of the objects you are looking at. There is a free mode that allows you to look at what you want, but I was surprised you can't zoom in on objects of interest. As a result, on a clear night you can see more with a pair of binoculars to be honest.

Like going to the planetarium!

So when I was younger, I always loved having the glow in the dark stars on my ceiling. Fast forward to adulthood, and I live in an area where I would be lucky to see two handfuls of stars. This experience enters in, and does exactly what I wanted. It lets me see and enjoy the night sky, it tells me stories of the constellations, and also has some nice music to enjoy. So I chill and lay down and enjoy it all the way I wish I could do in the real world. My only negative is that I find the constellation image for cetus to be a little unsettling, but like, it is a sea monster, so it is what it is. Besides, we've got two hunter constellations working to take care of the problem. If you enjoyed going to the planetarium and found it calming and peaceful, and you want to enjoy that whenever, I highly recommend this.
