There’s a trend I’ve noticed in several games on the Metastore (not just in Fly): they often start with excellent versions, where everything works well and the framerate is great. Then new updates arrive with added features, and sometimes this creates framerate issues, sometimes the graphics get worse. Most of the time they fix the problems… but what really frustrates me is when they don’t. What makes me angry is that after several months, the degraded framerate in this app still hasn’t been fixed. On top of that, players aren’t even allowed to downgrade to a previous version, where maybe you couldn’t use the AI yet, but at least you had a stable and smooth framerate — which is essential in this app, together with a good resolution. Instead, you’re forced to have the new AI features, even if you don’t use them, but also to deal with a worse framerate. And this hasn’t been happening for just one or two months — it has become the new normal. Another thing that bothers me is how little attention other players pay. Many don’t even notice the downgrade in performance. Unfortunately, this lack of attention to detail is very common nowadays. So the developers adapt and think: “You know what? If most users didn’t even realize the framerate got worse, why should we bother bringing it back to the previous, smooth and stable level? Let’s just keep it this way and add more features like AI or Spotify integration. The overall experience gets worse, but nobody notices.” They pretend to give us “more”, but in reality they’re taking away something fundamental to the experience. I loved this app and I still love it. And it’s precisely because I care about it that, until the original performance is restored, I will unfortunately leave a 3-star rating — for the time that has passed without a fix and for the forgetfulness effect this has created. I’ll be ready to put five stars back the moment the performance improves. And please, to achieve a higher framerate, don’t reduce the maximum detail distance of buildings… because I check that too! Along with the resolution, foveated rendering, etc. Thanks. update AI: I just tried the update with the AI: in Italian it works fairly well, but it’s not fast at determining the player’s position. For example, I was in the Vatican and it was able to recognize it, but then I moved to another area, and even though I had been there for quite some time, it said it didn’t have the coordinates. Also, in recent updates, a framerate issue has been introduced, so now it’s lower than in previous versions. I had reported it before but didn’t receive any attention or responses. The framerate problem affects both low-altitude and high-altitude flight. This is a deterioration that you should fix, please, because it’s quite unpleasant. I hope you manage to figure out what the underlying problem causing this is 🤞 I can assure you that the framerate drop has indeed occurred because I constantly monitor it using the OVR Metric Tool. But even without using this application, the framerate is noticeable to the eye — it has dropped and is no longer as smooth as it used to be. Obviously, I hope that in order to improve the framerate, you don’t compromise on graphics resolution or the distance at which building details are scaled. Also, the horizon line isn’t infinite: there’s a sort of zone where the horizon is displayed, beyond which mountains may appear “built” gradually as you approach. I’m talking about the zone where 3D objects are rendered when flying at low altitude. Flight navigation in Fly is slightly better than in Earth Quest, but the latter has now surpassed it even in terms of resolution and framerate. All things considered, I prefer both; I can’t say one is better than the other. I recommend taking a look at the update they made on Woorld regarding Jetpack flight — it’s a fairly interesting flight mode, although in my opinion it’s too slow. Perhaps you could find an alternative flight mode even more engaging than the one that already exists, but still allowing high movement speeds. I bought the dragons, but honestly, they weren’t that great. ---------- Great app in constant evolution, but please check the network performance because I feel it has worsened (I use the OVR Metric Tool to monitor it). Also, I noticed that the 3D photogrammetry seen up close now looks fragmented, as if there are cracks inside revealing empty spaces.

Time Machine

I absolutely love this app. Yes, the draw is being able to fly anywhere in the world. Big cities and landmarks are highly detailed and current. But something interesting happens when you visit smaller places. Your hometown, for example. If it's been a few years since the streetview car has rolled through, it really does become a time machine. My mom passed away a few years ago, so I thought I'd fly by her house. When I clicked on the streetview, I didn't see her or her car, but her house was there, frozen in time, decorated for Halloween. She loved to decorate. It was nice. I also saw my old elementary and middle schools that have since been torn down and moved. Finally, the McDonald's that was there my entire life before the remodeled it as a soulless husk. Tl;DR: Get this app and go back in time. (I do wish we could go a little faster, though)

Very easy to use

I'm a senior, ex pilot, looking for a fly around app. Wander was my most used app, I tried Earthquest, and although the author said the controls were now very intuitive, but certainly not for me, and did a refund. I figured I'd give Fly a shot, and was pleasantly surprised at just how intuitive and easy the controls were. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm 79, and would highly recommend that any seniors having trouble mastering the other google earth apps out there, give this a go. Simple controls. The only change I would like to see, is to be able to swap out the drone for a helicopter. Similar actions, but I'll bet more folks have sat in, flown, or rode in a helicopter than a drone😏 Anywhoo looking forward to updates both here and google Earth improvments. Love the app

Fly VR

Prior to purchasing FLY VR, I was using Wander and Earth lens,, so I decided to add Fly to my collection of Vr Travel games. I was very impressed with the flight feature it offers, which feels more realistic and easier to control than Earth Lens. However, the only thing it seems to be lacking is the toggle feature when in street view. When trying to navigate by pressing each circle in street view, it feels extremely frustration at times. It's as if you practically have to aim and hold the controller at certain positions just to get the yellow arrow to wake up and allow you to keep moving from image to image. It does not feel fluent, like on wander and Earth lens. There are many times when the dots wont even appear on the screen until you carefully aim the controller and wait for nearly a min. It takes a way from the feeling of being able to fluently navigate while in street view. If they would only fix this part, this app would definitely be worthy of a 5 star! Either way, it's still worth having and i'm looking forward to future updates!

Freakishly cool

So, there goes an hour! The motion controls were easy to learn and pretty soon I was flying freely through Google earth. Zooming up to outer space and the dropping down to Venice to zip through the canals. Whoa. Then over to vermont to check out and fly up some of my favorite ski runs. It’s a treat to be able to fly, and explore the earth. Loving it. And can’t wait to see features later into this.
