Kinomap VR transforms your cardio sessions in an immersive and interactive experience. Our goal is to simulate an outdoor ride from your stationary bike. You can discover touristic and cyclist tracks mostly filmed in 360° in different countries or made in 3D. To make it more realistic the app synchronizes movement speed with pedaling frequency and even difficulty if you have a compatible smart trainer. Tested some tracks and convinced? Then grab some credits and download tracks of your choice. The app communicates with smart trainers and pedals, cadence and heart rate sensors via Bluetooth.

A dream come true

I had been dreaming for a long time of an app that would let us travel while riding a stationary bike. There are two other similar apps available on Meta, but they require constant hands movement to move forward, which gets annoying over time. Here, no controllers are needed — tracking is done entirely through the headset, and that’s honestly amazing. Do we believe in it? Absolutely, 100%! It really feels like you're strolling through a city, the Alps, a forest, or country road. Some of the first videos they made can be a bit shaky at times, which can be slightly distracting. But with the latest routes, they’ve managed to improve camera stability and deliver a much smoother experience. Here are my favorite routes from the ones I’ve tried : 8 Scenic Routes : Col de Peyresourde, Chishang Rice (Taiwan), Glencree - Enniskerry (Irlande), Col du Galibier, Alpes d'Huez, Col D'Azet, Around A Pond In The South Of France, Ascent to Puy de Dome 7 Cities Routes : Crossing Sète city, Ride InToronto, Visit Of Budapest, Zengpeng Corner (China), Nice Monte-Carlo, Monaco-Nice, Paris Sacré-Coeur

I bought credits and then get a message that says daily time allowance.exceeded you can't use the app, you need to subscribe to pro. I don't know what this pro is given there is no explanation, link or possibility or subscribing to it but this is a con. I have bought credit and still can't use it! And the live chat is unavailable.

Concept is great, execution needs work

I wanted to like this app. I subscribed for a month, but just could not get into it. When you open the demo before buying/subscribing, it indicates that the quality is reduced, but after subscribing, even the highest quality videos are somewhat blurry and the interface is a bit confusing. There is a persistent text overlay across the bottom of the screen when doing a ride that says something to the effect that "if the video has issues, download it" but if you subscribe to the service, you can't download it so that message is not helpful and is distracting. I had a lot of freezing and stuttering while trying to stream on a gig connection and times that while my Wahoo was connected, my cycling stats were not counting up. If I did half of a track and came back later, it asked me if I wanted to continue where I left off and when I selected yes, it put me back at the beginning of the track and when I pedaled, the counter moved but the environment did not. There are some smaller environments that are filmed in areas with a lot of people walking in different directions and it causes motion sickness for me and I never get that so be mindful of those tracks.

Disappointing

I thought could be good to make stationary bike sessions more interesting, the preview tracks were a bit blurry but I thought they would be better when downloaded so I bought some credits. Maybe I picked the wrong track, the 3d Moon, but the resolution isn’t great and it sticks often. Not keen to spend another £8 to be able try another track. The interface isn’t very polished either and a bit frustrating to use. If the tracks were a lot cheaper I’d probably be more forgiving of the other flaws.

Enjoyable but could be better.

First off pick a name I spent 15 minutes just trying to find in the meta store. I searched immersion vr, then fit immersion as it's called on the headset only to eventually find the name kinomap vr. Rant over. The experience is great. How to make it better. 180 vr video. No one is looking behind themselves. I'd rather have half the pov and twice the clarity and smoothness. It's so blurry and choppy looking left and right it induces nausea. It's only tolerable straight ahead and that minimally. Can't read hug roadsigns. Better video and you'll have an amazing app.
