Like OG Splinter Cell in the best ways

I'm a massive stealth game fan, having played through every Metal Gear and Splinter Cell multiple times, so when I saw this on the Quest Store, I was intrigued. I also loved Killing Floor 2 and I knew the devs were cool, so I went in with high expectations only to have them shattered. First off, this game felt like a love letter to both franchises I mentioned before as it has you you climb around levels, tossing sticky cameras around corners like Splinter Cell and sticking up guards with a tranq M9 like you're in the jungles of Tselinoyarsk. Certain achievement names also nod at this games obvious homages. This game surprised me with its attention to even little details that many other games miss, like the collision weapons have with the environment, or the smoothness of throwing yourself around the map as you climb. I was especially blown away with the quality and responsiveness of the enemies' ragdoll physics as you manipulate them to fit into a hiding spot. I'd argue I haven't seen ragdolls that good even in a AAA game before. The level design and enemy placement is fantastic and the AI was much more intelligent at times than I would have expected, often chasing after me or investigating a noise just a little more than some other games would have had them, and that was even on the easier of the 2 difficulties (though I'm not sure if there's a difference in AI between difficulties). That all being said, there are a couple reasons I give this game a 4 instead of a 5. I did run into some bugs, namely 2 in a row that blocked my progression. Near the end of the game, at the part where you activate a computer and must defend it with trip mines, that entire arena area did not load for me, it was like an empty space. I had to exit the game and restart from that checkpoint for it to actually load and let me proceed. After that and retrieving the key from the directors office, the gate to the elevator did not open for me. I didn't feel like restarting that checkpoint again though so I remedied it by tying my controller to the end of a broom stick and just clipping my character's hand through the gate to access the control panel to proceed, and at least that worked. I also would have liked a better boss fight. On my first playthrough, I was able to climb up to the final boss's position and magdump an MP7 into his head in slow-mo before he even finished his voice lines. This game has plenty of content to justify the price, however the story feels like it's only the first act of 3, and not in a cute cliffhanger trilogy setup way. It just kind of ends with no clear climax. I hope there's a sequel or episodic story add-ons or something in the near future. Anyway yeah tl:dr buy the game if you like stealth games, it good.

SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST!!!

Look, I bought this game around the time it came out. I played a lot of it and put the oculus down to take a brake for a while (I know, lame) but here I am probably 3 years later and played it again. THIS GAME IS AMAZING to say the least. I just played until my battery pack and my headset were both depleted. I’ll definitely be buying the next two games of Espire that are out and any future to come. Stealth or mad man, the option is all yours. Just do yourself a favor and buy it. Especially if you’re considering during this Xmas sale for only 11.99. I don’t see how this doesn’t have all 5 stars. It still holds and even exceeds new games to date.

A TRUE VR CLASSIC

I first played this on Quest + on my Quest 2, I was very impressed with the gameplay and capability of this game, I have recently now got it in my collection & it’s one of those rare games that keeps pulling back in. The stealth aspect is particularly good, but you can go in all guns blazing, not advisable at times though. Really happy to be revisiting this game, it brings a lot to VR. Well done to the dev team.

Longer story mode

You should add more missions on the story mode. I finished the story mode in less than 1 day i really liked the game but just the story mode ended and then i got bored of the game. I would really love to see you guys make a longer story mode so we can all enjoy the fun longer.

Controls kill it for me

This game would be a favorite if the controls worked reliably. The game itself is awesome, (very MGS) - but the controls seem super unreliable. I try to grab the gun, nope. Try to grab the gun, nope. Try to grab the gun, nope. I’ve even let the gun go back to my body, then reach for where it went to, nope. It’s the same for reloading. Try to reload, nope. Try to reload, nope. Try to reload, nope. It’s the same for the healing tool. Try to grab, nope. Try to grab, nope. I can look down & see my hand literally touching it, but I can’t grab it. It’s the same for ledges. I try to leap a 3-foot ledge, nope. Try again, nope. Try again, nope. It’s the same for ropes. I’m climbing up, nope. I’m climbing up, nope. Etc. It’s the same for dragging a body. Try to grab a body, oops now I took a clip off my belt. Can’t seem to put the clip back on my belt, so I throw it away. Try to grab the body again, oops another clip off my belt. ^ each of these situations is why I keep ending up dead. If the controls were reliable, I’d be Solid Snake. I have not had this experience in other similar games. The game even told me - during calibration - “That’s not where your chest is” when I was literally touching my chest. PLEASE, Devs, fix this!! I desperately want to enjoy this game but I cant because I spend too much time battling the controls. I’m giving it a 5 anyways because the game, itself, is fantastic. I just hope good reviews grant you the motivation or capital to fix the controls. It’s basically a Lamborghini with a crescent wrench for a steering wheel. UPDATE: Something that might be helpful is a Sound when I’m hovered over something enough to grab it. Different sounds for weapons vs healing tool. So I don’t have to look.
