Great but need multiplayer mode

Game is great but need more song Also need some anime song Most important: we need a real-time multiplayer mode! I wanna play this game with friends like a band Ps:drums yellow's surface too small, always can't detect, please fix it.

I love this game!

I bought this expecting to have to return it because many of the reviews highlighted disappointing controls. Despite this I wanted to try it as I wanted to play drums in VR and I liked the aesthetic. I ended up keeping the game even though some instruments took some time to get used to. However, from the get go, I loved playing the drums and also being able to walk around and watch the performance afterwards. It‘s really cool how it records your performance - it really encourages you to ham it up. Parts that need improvement: The tutorials (boring) Unskipable intros Guitar strumming I did not like the challenge mode at first as it forces you to have to play random instruments to progress instead of focusing on your chosen instrument (It’s also the only way to get unlockables). Parts I enjoyed most: Drums (feels pretty immersive and believable) Art style Free play mode which lets you choose your song and instrument It took me some time to get used to the other instruments but now I love them all. Conclusion: I definitely do not regret purchasing this. You might also find it worth buying if you enjoy music based games like taiko or guitar hero and you like this art style.

Great music game but could be better

Updated at 9/12: Woohoo! Guitar mode added sliding mode! So nice! Expecting harder maps for all modes. Currently the maps is not hard for challenge. I think could have “pro level” for most realistic maps like play real instruments especially for drums and guitars. Also song selection UI still could be improved. Currently no idea which one had been played before, what is the best results before etc. Konami is here!!! Anything else need to say? But the game itself still have some area not good enough so not reach 5 points yet: - General: The notes for all games flying too high, so if concentrate on notes then it will be hard to locate the instruments especially for drum and keyboard modes. Sometime knows which one to hit but cannot hit the instruments precisely. If the game can set notes appearance height then that will be great. I expect lower notes flying. - Instruments position settings should be configured in game. Currently we can only set via avatar setting. and if we sit/stand in game then the instruments will be off. So if the instruments can be positioned in game then it will be great! - Guitar mode strumming down and up sometime will cause miss. So most of the time I can only ALWAYS strum down down down but not down up down. This is not smooth for guitar. - Guitar mode could have “chord” mode. Currently the notes mapping to key/trigger/grab. If can split the full guitar neck into 4 to 5 parts, then move left hand in between the parts to simulate different chords on the neck then it will be more close to real guitar playing. - Freeplay music selection cannot previews the music itself if not select the music. But if select the music then go to the selection UI, current song not centered. This is not good for whom not familiar with the songs. If provided some mechanism to preview the song during song selection will be great. Below are the great parts and if you are not decided whether this game worth to buy then you could consider the points: - KONAMI! KONAMI!! KONAMI!!! - I think this is the first game contains Guitar and bass mode. - It contains avatar design and replay saving and playback! This is really cool! After play the song, then we can playback what we played! Really cool! - 3d models really fantastic. - Best quality of the songs! - Contains some fun interaction such as interact with other player or send emoji.

Everything is way too close [IMPORTANT]

Overall a pretty good music game. However, everything and I mean everything is way too close to you and there is no setting to adjust it. Everything from menus to instruments are right in your face and things like the guitar and bass can sometimes be physically inside you and are nearly impossible to actually play depending on your body type. Drums and keyboard are fine since they are not physically attached to your character but not having a setting to fix this really ruins about half the game. Pretty much only play if you are very skinny. And Maybe I'm also too tall but the guitar and bass also feels like they're being held way too high. On another note your bandmates you play with are increasingly annoying and talk for majority of songs, for some reason their volume is louder than the music. Though this can be turned down or off in settings.

Rock like a Star, Play like a Rock

Beat Arena is a game I've wanted for the longest time: a Japanese rhythm game, with mechanics which take advantage of the medium of VR no other platform can. Being able to play drums like an actual drum set and doing an air guitar really brings the immersion to another level. And being able to customize your avatar and share it with other players is something I value highly in any game I play. That said, there are some pitfalls you may have to contend, some a consequence of having no physical feedback, some from the game's own shortcomings. The instruments can be a little unwieldy. Strumming your guitar could be difficult when you have to look at both notes and where you have to strum at the same time. Sitting down also messes with the position of the guitar, so you might have to reach into your guts in order to strum a note. The drum set's height can't be adjusted in the options, and the drum area is a little too small for comfort. The synthesizer's keys sometimes don't register because you can't feel where the keys are and misjudge the distance of a tap. But most of these problems, I believe, can be resolved through getting used to the controls the real reason this review has a star knocked off it is this: SINGLE PLAYER ONLY. If you look at the More Info tab, the game only has single player. You can't sync up with other people live to play a la Rockband, only load replays of other people into your session. There's no co-op, and I'm vastly disappointed as a result. Hopefully there's something on the roadmap for such a feature, but as of this review you can't play together with your friends. Overall, I had a blast playing Beat Arena, and though there were some kinks the game needs to sort out, I believe it was worth the price of entry for the single player it offered. Just don't expect multiplayer on purchase.
