Backrooms VR is the most expansive and immersive take on the iconic creepypasta universe ever made for virtual reality. Explore over 300,000 square meters of haunting liminal space across countless unique levels, each with their own layouts, moods, and hidden dangers. From flickering office corridors and moldy maintenance shafts to unsettling playgrounds and decaying hotel halls, every area is handcrafted to mess with your sense of space and reality.

Your goal is unclear. Your exit uncertain. But you're not alone—something watches. The longer you stay, the deeper you fall.

Play solo in this standalone version, or unlock the full experience by joining Banter, our social VR platform. Inside Banter, you get:

  • Multiplayer and voice chat

  • Access to new areas and updates

  • Custom avatars and social features

Best of all, it’s completely free with a SideQuest account.

Whether you're here for exploration, survival, or just the unease of being somewhere you shouldn't be, Backrooms VR delivers a deeply atmospheric experience designed to pull you in and not let go.

Don't get lost. Or do. We dare you.

Terrifying

This is probably one of the scariest backrooms vr games I’ve seen. There’s basically no jumpscares which just adds to the atmosphere and increases paranoia. You think that anything can be around any corner and it is terrifying. Also, there are so many strange places and rooms for you to find and youll discover something new every time you play. Just don’t waste your time with multiplayer because there’s hardly ever anyone there.

Bad Trip in VR

Got high asl, played the game blind. I thought I was tripping this game felt like a bad acid trip in vr! Endless yellow hell, straight panic inducing. Anxiety spiked like crazy. The sounds drove me insane!! Best horror game I’ve ever played. This scared me soo bad. Best 2 dollars spent on a game. Don’t play sober.

The best I've seen as a Backrooms Game

Highly recommend, it felt like I was actually getting lost and finding new areas that I've never seen before in only a couple playthroughs. Very eerie and creepy vibe and nice level design I would love for this to get updates

Creepy

I think this captures the backrooms atmosphere very well. It looks pretty good, but maybe slightly less impressive in the larger areas, but there's lots of variety in the locations. Sometimes crouching down to enter tunnels gets a bit glitchy, and there are a few too many stairs that lead to dead ends. Also, I'd like there to be at least one entity that actually poses a genuine threat, as that would really up the anxiety stakes. But I enjoy wandering around for half an hour or so, and it is unsettling, and definitely worth £1.99 of anyone's money. Hope the developers continue to update this, it's something I'll keep dipping into to give me the chills.
